Weird. I shared your post with her and she got Em. Must have been a bug. She’s on android so I’ll blame that.
Hammerstein is my favorite venue in NYC (maybe tied with Beacon), and it makes me sad that ever since Bowery Presents came along shows never get booked there anymore. I dont know why but I feel like it's the perfect setting for an AVA show. The capacity is of an average club (3,500), but the high ceilings and two balconies make it feel like an arena.
Is there a history of bad blood with Ryan and Tom? Even when he was in the band I feel like you never saw or heard from him. He looked so out of place.
I did a discography run through this weekend. I think I Empire is my favorite album of theirs, but Dream Walker might've taken that place if the production wasn't so muffled. Other thoughts - Woof, the Love Albums really has some terrible moments. I never want to hear songs like Clever Love or Inertia ever again. Also woof to all of their album artwork. Thankfully the artwork for all the new singles has been awesome, so hopefully they dont screw up the album art.
I think there were issues between Tom and Ryan. Never heard any details but his departure from the band was strange.
His departure was strange, but what’s even more strange is how it seems legally he’s not allowed to talk about it publicly. I don’t need to know details. It’s not my business. You can tell there’s definitely a grudge on Ryan’s end though.
I’m assuming he can’t talk about it because he was seen (on paper) as an employee who most likely signed an NDA upon joining. Which is pretty common. No idea why he’s bitter though. My guess is that he got kicked out for drugs while Tom or crew or whoever were also partaking.
From memory, there was a hint at it being a drug issue. I think Tom's words at the time were "the way he lives his life" and on the other hand Ryan made it seem like he wasn't the only one using. Maybe Ryan was using something the others weren't but obviously don't want to start making accusations. Ryan could have also been referencing Tom's painkiller addiction at the time.
I will always feel like Love Pt 2 felt like just songs that didn't make the cut for part 1. "My Heroine (It's Not Over)" and "Moon as My Witness" are my 2 favorites from it though. I also had a really tough time liking Dream Walker.. Still do.. The only ones I really come back to are "Bullets In The Wind" and "Anomaly" (Which is an underated Tom acoustic..) Then for some reason.. I LOVE the Chasing Shadows EP and then everything from that has been back to fun poppy Tom.
I just listened to "Euphoria" and I'm pleasantly surprised. The extraness in the vocal harmonies here and there continue to make me glad Tom has found such a good songwriting partner in Ilan (I say that because these immediately made me think of his The New Regime stuff). Outside of The Dream Walker, which I liked at the time for how different it seemed to be for Tom, I'm only familiar with some singles so I'm curious to dive into their discography. Feels weird that it's the only Blink related project I haven't done that for yet. Oh and I'm happy to hear Matt's basslines again. I hope he'll be in the band for the long haul.
Matt's bass playing on Euphoria is fantastic. Him and Ilan must be music theory nerding out over everything.
I recall this, but not specifics. I DO remember Ilan correcting Toms pronunciation of a word though. Lol This! ^ Is that what it was? I couldn't figure it. Remember Tom bragging about Ilan explaining a Major 7th? "I thought it was a mistake, but turns out it's actually art!" (Or smth like that) lol I can't really laugh about it because the song and video are for such a serious matter... suppose I can laugh about the evil grin I had about Britni killing the guy though haha I mean... Oh and the fact it reminds me of the Rebel Girl video (wtf was that?! Lol )
