He's been working on it for quite awhile. He could probably get the album out there this year if he wanted, but he's been sort of going non-stop for a long time now it seems. He probably wants a breather.

So I like the song, but it feels like it's trying to be Cecilia part 2 in a way? The chronological / storied lyrics behind playing in a band, and then the abrupt big (but not necessarily catchy) chorus surrounding by "wohs and ohs." Don't get me wrong, I like it, I just hope there's something more unique and ambitious on the album -- and perhaps a little bit faster. But overall, really good track that invokes nostalgia for some reason.
songs pretty good. has me hopeful for the rest of the album. only thing is it's a little too "upbeat/cheesy" for me. i can see myself having to be in the mood to listen to this.
After listening to this song on repeat for a while, it is definitely Andrew attempting to go in a more mainstream direction. The song musically feels pretty generic to me. I don't hate the song, but I also don't love it. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the album sounds, hoping Fire Escape is a deviation for marketing purposes.
It doesn't sound markedly different from the last record. Pretty much a continuation. It's good, too.
Yeah.. don't know where the Lumineers comparison came from. Damn this is so good. He can do no wrong.. love the return of the guitar!
It's good. But the more of the same just doesn't really hit me as a must listen at this point. I'll probably enjoy it more in context of a full album.
