Y'all, it's a business thing haha. Cecilia has 93 mil streams and I Woke Up In a Car has 23. Pretty easy math!
Well, duh. It just still feels weird to have it titled that was as if he wasn't already a part of Something Corporate.
Personally, I’m not gonna fret over how the song is labeled and I’ll just add it to my All Andrew McMahon playlist.
Yeah I don’t want to be a hater. That was just my impression. I hadn’t thought of the marketing angle.
wouldn't read too much into it. it's likely for streaming purposes. JT did this with the newest NSYNC track too. that way it goes to both profiles on streaming platforms.
I dunno, call me crazy, but I really love how each of Andrew's projects has a distinctly different sound while also remaining so identifiably him. I probably love the Wilderness stuff a little less than the Jack's Mannequin stuff or the Something Corporate stuff, but I don't fault him for going in the direction he did. I'd also love some piano and big ass guitars on a new SoCo song, but I'm excited just knowing he made some new music with old friends.
I never in a million years expected to see as many complaints about a new brief Something Corporate song clip in 2024!! as I have seen on this website today, that's for sure. Everyone seems to be going nuts on their social media accounts at least and that was the energy I had when I saw them all in the studio again.
Uhhhh where are the complaints? I think I came the closest to complaining but that only went so far as falling short of being in love with how something is tagged. Hadn’t thought of the streaming, which makes sense. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super pumped. AM is one of the few artists that has maintained a spot towards the top of my rankings for over two decades with each album release, right next to jimmy and death cab.
Ohhhh I don’t frequent there too often. If you start adding links in the periods again to secret tracks I’ll get back to it tho
Maybe I'm just weird but when I heard Everything In Transit for the first time I just felt like it was a natural follow-up to North and everything Andrew has done since then under whatever moniker he's chosen has felt organic and seamless. Sort of like Ace Enders. If you played me any Million Different People/Early November/I Can Make A Mess... song and asked me to tell you which moniker it was released under I wouldn't be able to tell you.
I'm 100% confident if you play me an Andrew or Ace song, I could tell you exactly which project, and likely which album, it's from
Yup Ace is imo a bad example. You can pinpoint exactly what project a song comes from. Andrew does seem like a natural progression though.
I mean if you played me Caterpillar and asked me whether it was an I Can Make A Mess song or The Early November song I would know the answer but I wouldn't know why, if that makes sense. Like if Ace put Caterpillar on Imbue instead of Growing In I wouldn't be like "whoa whoa whoa what is this song doing on this album?!?! It's way out of place, this is clearly not a Early November song!!!" All of Ace's projects are mostly interchangeable in my opinion and I'm not sure what clearly separates one from the other.
In the beginning there were definitely clear distinctions between what made a song TEN, Mess, Solo. But then Growing In came out and that was like a TEN album with a Mess label. And then Lilac came out and that felt like an Ace Enders solo project with the TEN label. But I think originally the idea was TEN = heavy, Mess = acoustic/folk, and Solo = pop rock
I like the song, but I love the video concept. There just a certain vibe when you pick up the boys for a drive or road trip and it serves as a nice “reunion” video
went to the show last night in Brooklyn. they were great. fun experience. the merch felt insanely expensive. $70 for a hoodie and $75 for a signed poster.
I spoiled myself and looked at that set list. Couldnt ask for one better. Do you recall how long they played for/when the show ended?
any chance you can share the days away Setlist? Going on Saturday in Philly and can’t wait to see them
Seeing as VIP is usually like 80 or so when Andrew does it and you get a signed poster, plus all the other stuff, that does sound high. I’m sure this is all the SoCo guys signatures, but still. Easy pass for me.
they played 9:10 - 11 PM. so depending on when they start at different shows it's about an hour and 50 minute set. i know curfews in places are different so i wouldn't count on 8:10 start every show. edit: 9:10
