Just read his book last month over vacation. I thought it was pretty good and really liked it. His writing style was enjoyable and there were a bunch of moments that were incredibly relatable. Highly recommend!
Little surprised he’s releasing it so soon after Stars; song seems to be doing well on alt radio. I hear it pretty often on AltNation on SiriusXM
Dang, we’ve been slipping. Andrew teased another new song recently, VHS. It’s out 11/16! Also, the Dear Jack show was on Friday and was streamed on Mandolin. I didn’t get to it until last night. Sounded great as usual. The core of the set was the Hello Gone Days set. But he threw in Crashin’, I’m Ready, Hammers & Strings, La La Lie, and played Skywriting for the first time. Plus, rather then getting one song from the North era, he played She Paints Me Blue and Watch the Sky. Rather than Swim or The Resolution, he played both. So, I dug the set a lot. I do have to say though, I think this is the worst shot stream I have seen. Cutting to a way too wide shot too often, a lot of shots of the back of the band. The lighting was not set up for their configuration. A lot of shots of Zack barely visible. Just not a good watch. Worth the listen though. It’s available until 9pm EST tonight. I got the impression from what he said that the new album is likely to be first quarter of next year. But those weren’t his exact words, so we shall have to wait for an announcement. https://boxoffice.mandolin.com/prod...utm_campaign=Andrew-McMahon-Dear-Jack-Benefit
Oh he has made it clear there is an album in the new year. Just when is not known yet. But based on the stream, it sounds like quarter 1 release.
If I’m being hi If I’m being honest I’ve felt this way about everything post-Jack’s. Other than a couple of songs on self-titled and Happy Birthday, I don’t really go back to any of it.
I listen to the last one fairly regularly. Zombies has a few songs I like, but don’t feel compelled to listen to the full thing. I also saw him SO MUCH when the first wilderness album came out that I just can’t listen to that one anymore lol.
Yeah that first Wilderness album is great. The last one has a few gems on there too. Zombies I really only ever return to for Brooklyn and Birthday Song.
