Waking Ashland / We Shot The Moon were a solid little group. I still check out some Jonathan Jones stuff every so often, enjoyable but definitely not Andrew level
Oh damn he definitelyyy has some good "piano rock" stuff. "you got soo much love in you" damn i forgot about these
Yeah i think we named the 4 that i played constantly they're some of the few that're actually on my paid itunes tracks that are STILL on my phone from years and years ago, haha. I only found Rocket Summer because a cousin of mine said i sound like him sometimes...quite the compliment
The Rocket Summer/Waking Ashland in this thread just brought back a whole wave of nostalgia for me. (edited because i can't spell apparently)
Rocket Summer is awesome, definitely teetered on the cheesy levels, but Do You Feel and the album after it are pretttty fuckin good. Always impressive that he plays every instrument also
Wow! just saw the set list from last night and there are 2 songs that are huge surprises. Even more pissed the tour isn’t coming here. including one that I didn’t think that he would ever ever play again.
Yeah if that set is correct my friend and I are absolutely going to lose our minds when that bridge hits.
it’s pretty much what you expect, then you get the one that you would never expect him to play. Then there’s THAT special song. Holy crap. Don’t over look the other song. I am now making plans to travel to Atalanta for this tour.
Woah, that setlist rocks. I remember putting the song in question on my Ultimate Andrew McMahon Setlist a few years back and being told by at least two people he would never, ever play it again. YE OF LITTLE FAITH.
He had said in the past he didn’t feel comfortable playing songs Will was the key songwriter on, if I’m remembering correctly. So, it’s still surprising he’s doing it!
He announced yesterday that both will be featured on the rest of the tour. Glad my two stops weren’t on the front end!
Can't wait for the Richmond date! It'll be my seventh time seeing him live (in some form or another) and I am already prepared to cry. Again. I did just do a little dive into what songs he's played the most when I've seen him, and so far Dark Blue/La La Lie/Holiday From Real are the ones he's definitely played the most, with Bruised/I Woke Up In A Car/21 and Invincible as the second-most.
I'm gonna be a setlist diva and say the stuff he chose from Zombies is disappointing... picking "Island Radio" over "Dead Man's Dollar" is a crime. And nothing from Upside Down Flowers is a bummer. "House in the Trees" would've been great.
As much as I love that setlist, I would also love more Zombies and Upside Down Flowers in any setlist he puts out.
