Not surprising. No one has done anything like this before. They did a Switchfoot show last month next to the baseball stadium too and I’d imagine people would say the same thing as you Steve.
I’m at the show right now for my birthday, and almost wish I was at home on the livestream instead. Hour and a half wait for the bathroom on the app and they randomly cancel your reservation too without notifying you. Also, there are no external speakers. You have to stream through your phone or radio and then get major drum delay from the live to the stream. Also, the streaming app will mute as soon as you try to screen record (which is a bummer). Anyone able to record the livestream? Would love to actually watch the show later when I’m home and see it in quality.
Yeah, I mean some of it was certainly opening night jitters, but it was some unacceptable stuff like the bathroom queue (online queue) actually being OVER 3 HOURS LONG, and they dont let you go early even after letting them know how ridiculous it was. I entered the bathroom line at 6:30 and at 9:30 it still wasn't my turn. But what actually pissed me off is that I had conversations with the venue ahead of time, asking about how the show would work, and what they promised was not fullfilled. Turns out the music was completly unable to be heard in real life, the only way to hear the show was via a radio or an app that didn't actually work. So while it was promoted as a drive in show where "you get to use the empty space to the left of your car to set up chairs and blankets to enjoy the show," you actually can't hear any music that way. We ended up having to keep the car on with the radio blasted, open all doors and windows, just to hear the music at all. It was still fun, but it was a total mess
it’s not all bad, still fun to get out of the house and be “at” a concert on a beautiful summer night. But the sound and experience leave a lot to be desired unfortunately. I don’t even want to know how many hours of traffic I’m going to sit in trying to get out of this parking lot with a full bladder.
I left the second the last song ended and got out in less than a minute, it should be easy if you do the same
knew that was the answer before I even asked, but sometimes you need to speak it into the universe to have a chance. Obv this wasn’t one of those times.
ya, ended up doing the same. Was luckily on the end of our row and backed in which made it quick. Wanted to try to get a setlist but wasn’t gonna wade through an ocean of cars trying to get out and then be stuck longer for an impossibility.
We had a blast. 2 families in the back with 4 kids between us. Easy in. Easy out. The restroom queue site never loaded for us but there were portapotties we were able to use. Everyone playing the show via their cars made the audio actually enjoyable and not ear piercing. Maybe a weird vibe because you lose the energy of being in a room but since it was a family event for us we had a blast. Hope I can get to see the livestream, too. between us we had tons of beer, too. I dunno if it’s because we showed up closer to show time but they barely checked the car. We also had a crying kid so maybe that helped.
That’s a bummer that it wasn’t as enjoyable in person. Thoughts on the new song for those who have seen the show or watched the livestream?
The new song was fantastic!! It was really cool to hear that kinda vibe from him, super summery and beachy which makes sense after his story about it being inspired by him learning to surf
Nice! I recall him previewing a new song on one of those Instagram Live things back a few months ago... did he mention if/when he might be releasing it?
Does anyone know how long the stream will be accessible for? I'm on my second viewing at the moment, so it's not a big deal if it's only through tonight or tomorrow. Just curious.
