I sadly never really came around to People and Things as a whole. There are like 4-5 songs that are some of my favorites, but overall it never stuck with me

Yeah I'm the same way. It's his only record I've never really been able to connect with.

im a pretty big fan of all the singles except for "brooklyn", "so close" is a jam.

I'd call this song significantly more "radio pop" than anything on the first record.

I didn't love People and Things at first, but I do really enjoy it on occasion now.

"Brooklyn" more or less sucks. The rest have been good.

I like "Brooklyn" fine. It's the weakest one, but the other three are great.

"Brooklyn" is still my fav, but the other 3 are great as well. Don't really understand all the flak these songs are getting, but I seem to remember that a bit from the last album as well.

Just not feeling the whole New York thing. The lyrics on Brooklyn and Fire Escape describe the city with the most recycled cliches. Plus, pretty sure that's 432 Park on his album cover, which just makes all this even more painful.

EDIT: I can't link to his Twitter explanation of the song for some reason. Basically he wrote it for someone else, they didn't use it, so he reworked it for the album. I haven't listened yet because I want new songs to hear when the album is actually released.

This is the first one I'm not really into. It really does feel like he wrote it for someone else. I don't think he's very well suited to this style of pop.

I've yet to listen to this one, or the one he released a few weeks ago (So close). At this point there's only five unreleased tracks from this. I heard So Close is excellent, though.

I actually think this song is the best pop song released so far, as its definitely the avenue he's going down.

I was "eh" on this one upon first listen.. but I really like it now. Wonder who it was written for originally!

I hope people come around on these singles and dig the record. It's not my favorite thing he's done, but the sequencing makes it thrilling and the back half gets pretty personal in a poignant, satisfying way. I think even the people who don't like the pre-release tracks will like the last few songs on the album, especially the closer.

Also, I'm interviewing him tomorrow (barring a last-minute schedule change on his part), so let me know if you have any questions you'd like me to ask.

One point of interest is that there will likely be a vinyl reissue of The Glass Passenger next year, for those who don't have a copy and don't want to spend $300 on eBay.

I really like s/t, but I think this is more fully realized and has better sequencing and pacing.

I'm not huge on tracks 1-3 on here, but everything else I enjoy quite a bit.
