Welp, I won the karaoke contest for tonight’s show in Boston. Rehearsed two songs with the band and am real happy with what Andrew landed on. Ah!

Last night was one of the best shows I can remember and solidifies that he is one of my all time favorite songwriters, I didn’t really give the new album a chance, but hearing those songs live as well really put them in a new perspective for me…

This will be a novel and I’m sorry.
Got the message from Andrew at 1:40am yesterday that I won. Had some back and forth texts on logistics with his manager, and managed to leave work early to soindcheck with the band on a couple songs. Just me, the band, and the crew before they let the VIP crowd in, in a 3,000 cap venue. Insane. I got to sing ruthless and high dive, and Andrew decided we should do ruthless. I couldn’t believe it, never thought he’d let me do that with them. During soundcheck he told me my voice was great and I was floored, haha. Got to have some nice conversations too!

One of my favorite moments was when I was backstage getting miced up and they asked me to sing a few bars of something to get the levels right, so I did the chorus to ruthless. As I’m singing I heard Andrew say “right on, man,” from the stage, and started playing along. I got goosebumps haha. Just such a surreal experience to have one of my biggest influences digging my voice.

then the performance was so damn fun. I was a little nervous to be doing a fan favorite. Just didn’t want to ruin someone’s night by messing up their favorite song. But man the crowd was awesome, cheering me on and just vibing. When I was leaving there was a group near the front just chanting my name.

Highlight of my life. Sorry, wedding!
