In the 3rd Rogue Squadron game, you play the evacuation of the base under an Imperial attack. Obviously, not canon haha but I figured they gave themselves an evening and then started to evacuate.

I guess I didn’t mean that all the shows were connected to one another, more that they bent over backwards to show how connected they were to existing parts of the universe. Mando was its own thing, but then had to tie in with Rebels and make sense of the first order and cloning. The Acolyte (which I admittedly haven’t seen) was a whole new era, but it had to tie in with Darth Plagiues. I havent watched Skeleton Crew either, but I also recall it being announced as being connected to the Mando-verse. Obi-wan turned out to just be an explanation of the line “last time we met I was the learner…” from a new hope that no one really asked for. It goes on like that.

Andor, is on the surface just a prequel to Rogue, but it was approached in a way where it wasn’t overly concerned with fleshing out lore or canon or trying to shoehorn in characters. It had a vision and that came first. That other shows seem subservient to existing canon in a way this did not.

Wrapped last night and I’m just so hyped on this show and very happy with the outcome. The Ghorman massacre arc was incredible. Syril’s final moments being from his arch nemesis asking “…who are you?”

    Incredible.

Then our girl ending up in an imperial prison is literally perfect.

    there is one way out

I think you’re making some assumptions based on when things were revealed. Just because Plagiues showed up in the last episode doesn’t mean it started as one then and became something else. You assumed it was one thing when it was actually another.

same with the cloning in Mando. They didn’t change why Grogu was a target. They just revealed it over time. Maybe the rebels crew was added in later. I don’t know. But I don’t think that is a reason why season 3 wasn’t up to the standards of the first two seasons.

Fair points. I shouldn’t talk about the Acolyte, I haven’t seen it yet. Despite the mixed reviews, I’ve at least heard that it tries something different so I’ll might give it a shot one day. With Mando S3, it’s not the only reason it didn’t work. Honestly, I don’t even hate that they are trying to make TROS make a little sense in some way. I don’t have an issue with how they set it up in Bad Batch either.

I guess when I think more about it, my issues with the other live action Star Wars shows I’ve seen is that they ultimately seem to just want to expand lore rather than focus on characters and story. With a lot of them I will admit to enjoying in the moment, but after one watch I don’t have much desire to come back or think about them. Lore is fun, but having it be the driving focus isn’t interesting storytelling.

The endings for all the fascist characters and perfect. On my rewatch of Rogue One, it’s one of the things that Andor really helped enhance. Krennic is presented as the top of the pyramid in Andor, but then in Rogue One, he’s at the bottom groveling and then getting spit out just like Syril, Dedra, and even Partagaz.

It was more based on the line “Obiwan once thought as you do” from ROTJ.

I mean, Andor is fleshing out the lore of the rebellion as much as it is Andor and Mothma. It’s very much subservient to Rogue One which constantly reminds the audience of Star Wars things from the OG trilogy. They literally have a special shot for blue milk. Andor sure did have a vision, but that vision included how it all would lead to Rogue One. As much as Gilroy said he changed canon for Mothma’s speech, it still absolutely fits with the Rebels episode that happens right after ep9.

Andor is brilliant and easily the best of the live action shows. But it still serves and fits in the greater story of Star Wars.
