It’s def not the smoothest transition to rogue one, but it works for the most part. the music cue & big reveal of bail stepping out of the shadows is laughably silly in R1 now it’s like…uh we just saw that jerk 20 minutes ago what’s the big deal haha
Incredible season of tv. Can't see anything beating this for my favorite show of the year. Also can't believe Elizabeth Dulau has only been acting (professionally) for a couple years, because she was great in these final eps.
Man, agree with everyone that they really stuck the landing with this one. I can confidently say that I think S2 tops S1 but the whole show is just absolutely incredible. Andor himself is definitely one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters now, and the way that this whole show contextualized the Empire and shows just how fucking oppressive they are and how absolutely desperate and seemingly hopeless the Rebellion is in a way that no other SW media has before really helps to make the entire franchise better; it's never been easier to root against the Empire and more satisfying when they lose ( which makes my dislike for the sequel trilogy even stronger than it already was) I also watched Rogue One again for the first time in years and it's actually insane how different of a movie it feels like for me now. Even though the movie obviously follows Jyn and she is meant to be the audience POV, I honestly think Cassian feels like the main character of the movie now, and that it really does end his arc perfectly. Amazing work bridging right into it I fucking love Star Wars
For those wanting to continue their fix of this larger Rogue One story I'd recommend reading Catalyst: A Rogue One novel which is great. It tells the story of Galen Erso and Director Krennic's relationship from being friends as young Republic scientists near the end of the Clone Wars to the point where Erso escapes to go into hiding with the help of Saw Gerrera. There is also another one which I didn't read, Rebel Rising. It's a YA novel that covers Jyn Erso's life between the time her father got taken, her childhood with Saw Gerrera, up to the point she was rescued from prison by the Rebel Alliance.
I got to episode eleven last night. So good. The tension throughout was masterful. But my favorite scene was easily Cass, Melchi, and K2 playing cards. It was such a simple way to show the friendship between the three and also how much more at home the rebellion feels on Yavin. the line where Cass asks Kleya if she’s sure that Luthen’s dead. There’s a hint of concern in there but it’s mostly clear he’s asking if Yavin could be compromised if Luthen is still alive. Then you also have the look from Kleya which is both “how dare you ask me that” and showing him she knows he’s dead because she did what she had to. I’m hoping to get to the finale and RO tonight.
I’ll second Catalyst being great and so is Rebel Rising. Don’t let the YA moniker fool you because it still dives into the deeper themes, just from the Jyn & Saw perspective.
There is also a junior novel by Greg Rucka about the two Guardians of the Whills dudes taking place six months prior to Rogue One. It was also adapted into a Manga.
I watched Rogue One and ANH right after finishing. There are part of RO that are enhanced after Andor (Melshi, K2, Cassian’s arc, and Krennic’s struggle to impress superiors and subsequent death at his own creation are even better now), but it has aged worse overall in my eyes post Andor unfortunately. The final act is still a banger though. It’s probably not fair to judge it against Andor of course. I can only imagine what the movie would have been like if it was another Andor arc.
Found this in my Facebook memories from 2022 when they had a big Star Wars tv show cover. Being wrong rules sometimes.
as someone who thought Kleya was one of the best parts of s1 it's so gratifying seeing the character/Dulau having such a moment now. just shows you how good Gilroy's instincts for this are that he built the entire final arc around her just based on how good her small screentime in s1 was

Most current odds and trades predictions don't have Andor winning anything major. Severance and The Pitt got the drama categories locked down. Will probably get some noms through.
I'd love at least one Andor win, but i don't see them beating out Severance (need a Tramell Tillman Emmy win), The Pitt, or White Lotus
