Shows great so far. I hope this is successful and helps steer the franchise forward in conjunction with Mando. I think a big part of the success of this and Mando are the stepping away from to main saga characters and telling other stories. The work has been done to se up an amazing universe, now is the time to play and explore it.

    Also, yeah this rules.

Edit: The sheer volume of actual, visual storytelling here is such a treat compared to a lot of what we’ve gotten…elsewhere. I’m so excited about this.

The slow burn is one of my favorite things about the show so far. Feels so good to be this genuinely excited about new Star Wars again.

First episode was fine. Loved the opening and it had some interesting characters and dynamics. Very thin on plot, so I get why they’re doing three at once. The direction still felt as flat as Obi-wan though.

I didn’t have time for the other two, so I’ll
have to check them out tomorrow. Everything I’ve read says three is where it hooks you.

I adored The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi and The Mandalorian, but this might be my favorite Disney-era Star Wars thing, full stop.

It just exudes confidence, and a depth not seen or felt in Star Wars content....ever?

any content creator who associates themselves with the likes of critical drinker or mauler are immediate skips for me. Their takes are all so tiring at this point especially when a show like this doesn't give them much to actually complain about.

The show opens with him going to a brothel. But sure, a kids show.

Moments later, Cassian shoots a cop in the face. The rest of the episode is people talking.

    The kids are riveted.

Okay, the 2nd and 3rd episodes rule. That shootout in the warehouse with those massive objects swinging around was fantastic.

I'm very tired of most Star Wars discourse, but near the top of the list is the "it's for kids" vs "no but this one is darkkkk" debate.

This is definitely less kid-friendly than something like TPM or Mando. But let's not act like showing the waiting area of a brothel makes this rated R. It's still accessible to most pre-teens.

I feel like any time there's something that vaguely strays from the good/bad dynamic, in SW or any film or show, people are so quick to say "finally it's X, but for adults". No. It's just attempted to bring some nuanced characters, commentary and themes. The inclusion of these elements doesn't exclude children. Believe it or not, kids are capable of handling these things. And you don't have to feel bad for liking something that's designed to deliver these things to children either.
