Doing my first rewatch of season 1 since it aired - it is astounding how much better this season visually looks than all the normal Disney+ SW content, especially the low budget soundstage vibe that is The Acolyte.
The worst people on the internet seem to hate it and be spamming the shit out of it on social media, so I'm assuming it's awesome.
It’s on par with Kenobi and Boba Fett; I’m watching it every week, as I’m intrigued to see where the story goes, but def a low-effort show from Disney
they’re hating on it for the wrong reasons, but unfortunately there’s plenty of legitimate flaws too. Rough acting and writing all around.
Hmm. I found both of those to be fine, but ultimately very forgettable so that’s not encouraging. I like Leslie Headland and I remember reading Kogonada was directing a couple of episodes, so I might get to it eventually.
definitely not flawless, but i have more respect for it than i initially did. lots of great ideas with so-so execution in some areas, but pretty alright for what it is
Kenobi is my least-favorite Disney-era SW project (and for the record, i liked a good handful of elements from the show - it sits on my bookshelf - but wish the story could've been better). The Acolyte is definitely a more enjoyable story, just could be slightly better-acted and better-paced.
that fight scene from episode 5 reminded me a lot of how i felt watching the throne room scene in TLJ and the duel on Mustafar from ROTS. i guess my bar for judging SW projects is whether it ignites that same spark that i felt as a kid, and that episode definitely did that.
TROS is flawed, but it was definitely a much more enjoyable watch than either Boba Fett or Obi-Wan (i will say that i did love the first few episodes of Boba Fett re: his backstory, as well as the Mando arc - just felt inconsistent throughout)
