It was brief, but the conversation mentioned that his mother was not taking her meds. Right? Sorry, I watched like 12 hours ago already haha! To me, it reminds us she is still there and being watched and getting sicker.
I know awards don't matter but I hope this gets some emmy nominations. If the viewership numbers aren't great, maybe having something that gets award recognition will key Disney into making more content like this and not the book of boba Fett type things. I worry that even though this is the best star wars content Disney has produced, people not watching will cause then to go back to the well of nostalgia.
Yeah echoing the praise, fucking incredible episode. I somehow knew that Andy Serkis wouldn't make it out but the way it actually happened was heartbreaking I actually got the impression that he always knew that he wouldn't be able to get any further than that (he had to have known the prison was surrounded by water right?). I figured he was sacrificing himself to get everyone else out knowing full well he wasn't going to make it
"I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see"... what a fucking line. Skarsgard's whole monologue was phenomenal.
man this was great. can't believe I thought the prison arc was gonna be filler lol, what a chump the whole of Serkis' performance was incredible - I kinda forgot what a good actor he is, but this episode was a hell of a reminder. I loved how clear it was that he still kinda despises Cassian but knows he's right nonetheless. his performance during the speech especially, you can kinda see him start to give up like he knows he personally isn't making it out no matter what, but then he rallies and fires up the revolutionaries anyway quoting Cassian's words right to them. great, great stuff, give the dude an Emmy also shoutout to that aerial shot of all the prisoners swimming away from the facility. maybe one of the best shots ever in Star Wars? man, I wish they'd figured out they could bring this kind of quality in writing/directing to the show Ewan McGregor was in also, I would be pissed if I was him watching this lmao
Really hope KK and Disney take the reception this show is getting to heart, and pursues the Andor style in Star Wars properties in the future
Someone mentioned when Kino is telling all the prisoners to climb that that was basically K2's last words to Jyn and Cassian on Scarif
Gilroy talks about lack of aliens, him not knowing about Easter eggs, Show ratings/metrics some pretty insightful stuff in here. I love how straightforward his answer to the aliens question is lol
lol anytime somebody says climb in this show people are just assuming it's a nod to K2SO this show is so good, worst part is having to wait a week for the next episode. also, are the viewing numbers really that bad? I thought it came out that the one chart that guy put out was wrong and the numbers really aren't that bad and have been increasing every week
Man I just want to keep watching Cassian getting sucked into some other corner of the universe’s stories on his way to Rogue One. This is absolutely top tier Star Wars and I have a funny feeling going back to The Mandalorian is gonna feel a little jarring.
Yeah, I love Mando for what it is, but I've always felt like something is lacking. This show just shines a spotlight on the glaring quality issues with all of the other Disney+ shows.
The weird thing is, I'm not super interested in Cassian as a character. As in, he's not been the main draw of the show so far for me. I'm way more into the Luthen/Mon Mothma/Meero stuff. Not to say Cassian's stuff is not entertaining - pretty much all of the best scenes come from his plotline - but I'm liking the behind the scenes stuff a lot more.
Mando for the most part nails the pulp sci fi adventure Star Wars I enjoy. It’s probably my favorite show on D+ (other than this one). I will simply never speak of Obi Wan or BoBF again.
I've thinking been about this and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as being two of the standout "Tentpole franchise IP shows" this year, and how wild it is that they both won over a disaffected fanbase by subverting their franchises but in completely opposite ways. With Andor it's a breath of fresh air because it dared to do something different and edgy with a franchise that's been obsessed with nostalgia and recapturing the tone of the original Star Wars. With ST:SNW it's a breath of fresh air because it dared to go back to basics and recaptured the original tone of a franchise that has lately has been obsessed with being edgy and different than the original Star Trek.
