The lack of alien characters has to be for budget reasons. It’s a bummer, because I do think just making one side character an alien or yea maybe having the Aldahni’s be aliens would have helped. But it’s a minor gripe for me at this point.
there have been some cool alien designs in the Mon Mothma scenes at least. All of the set/wardrobe/prop/etc. designs for those scenes have been so amazing
Interesting theory. For some reason when I was watching the manufacturing scenes I couldn’t stop thinking that machines could’ve done that type of work in a sci-fi society that has so much tech. Then I thought that maybe the empire just needed something for prisoners to do. Then I had the chilling thought that what if the Death Star was completely manufactured by prisoners?
This was for sure more of a connector episode between bigger events, suggesting that next week is when things start to kick of again
I keep forgetting that today is Wednesday since I took most of Monday off work. Very excited for this tonight.
This episode was so fucking bleak. The torture scenes, the casual way in which Dedra suggests killing a prisoner and framing it as an accident, and the tension in the prison and reveal of what happened on level 2. Shit is going to go down next week. I love this show.
Yeah just finished this and damn, bleak is the right word. Very creative torture device they have there
Every episode is such a treat to watch. The torture device is one of the creepiest things I’ve seen in Star Wars. Also lol at him just waiting for her outside work.
Absolutely loved this shot of Mon Mothma after Vel leaves. Vel is the only person we've seen show her any sort of compassion and when she leaves Mon is left alone once more with nothing but the projection of a good life.
This show is so fucking phenomenal. Every week I’m so impressed, and I can confidently say as of a few weeks ago that it’s my favorite Disney+ Star Wars show.
Man that last scene with the old man dying and Serkis realizing what they have to do was incredible. I got chills at "never more than 12"
The realization that nobody leaves the prison was devastating. Every ep introduces something new and interesting, be it big or small. Even as a prequel based on an existing character, this show proves how creative storytelling can be in this universe. I wonder how the arc ends next episode. I would assume we get an awesome prison break.
I loved watching him grow in his interest in level 2 over the course of the episode. And the final switch at the end was so satisfying.
So are we assuming it’s always been “nobody leaves the prison”? Or just now after the recent rebel attack?
fucking monster of an episode. might’ve been one of the all-time best in this universe. you just know they're not holding anything back from the acting in that opening scene and it just got darker from there. I don't think another property has so obviously drilled down on how banal, callous and horrifying the Empire is without making any space wizards wave lazer swords around also yeah NEVER MORE THAN 12, just instantly iconic, fucking heater of a line delivery by Serkis
I’d think it’s a new thing. Or how long has the prison been around? Maybe they haven’t had anyone actually finish their sentence yet.
