It doesn’t feel like an easy thing that gets solved quickly that’s for sure. Maybe something with the creeper guy obsessed with finding him / the blonde officer actually realizing he’s in captivity already and having him relocated and that leads to his rescue/escape somehow
It’s gonna happen next week. Right? Like that’s gotta resolve to allow whatever arc 9-12 will give us.
I think the prison arc is going to be three episodes then the last two will be it's own arc according to Gilroy. SWE did a video on it last week.
didn't realize we were getting the Snoke origin story that everyone was complaining about not having before in this show. also, believe i heard somewhere that this is a planned 2 season show and they start filming next month for the next season
We are? I haven't heard Snoke's name being mentioned in any review/reaction video or podcast on this show so far
In this review, Patrick Willems referenced an interview where Tony Gilroy said that ep7 was a transition episode and not part of an arc. Eps 8-10 are an arc, and then 11-12 are another arc.
Nothing but love for the show. But the lack of aliens in the prison is very very weird to me as an old school EU fan. There was such an emphasis on the Empire being anti alien and using them as slave labor. Not to mention being sexist and having very few women.
It’s really the lack of aliens that kind of hits me as odd. But again, it is because the EU made such a big deal about the Empire being anti alien and using them as slave labor. That’s what made Thrawn an even more intriguing character. This Chiss who not only was respected and trusted by the Emperor, but promoted to such a high rank.
idk about the prison stuff yet, so far it feels like time killer until the main narrative needs Cassian again everything else is still great, particularly enjoyed the Luthen/Saw scene
so many great little character dynamics in this show that subtly add a lot to the action. in particular I love the Luthen/Claire (probably some goofy star wars spelling I can't be bothered to check) dynamic and how different it is from what you initially expect. Claire being the voice of reason holding him together is so great, especially that scene of her ordering him to order her to cut the radio off
It might be the whole feeling of helplessness and general uneasiness that it creates, but I have always hated "prison arcs" of shows (right there with "hallucination/bad trip/dream" plots). I actually love this one though just for the whole purpose it serves. This show is right up there with The Mandalorian as far as enjoyable Star Wars content goes.
As soon as they mentioned the “red lights” on the floor, I immediately starting guessing who was going to the one to die from it.
like, she's just talking and schmoozing at fancy dinner parties but I've never seen this angle in SW before and I love it lol. It's so cool that they've kept her casting the same for pretty much all the movies
I think it makes sense. The work they're doing is very specific and they may need human anatomy/ need other aliens used to different environments elsewhere doing other things more suited to their anatomy. At least that's my head cannon to not get frustrated about it.
Eh, I’m less frustrated and just more annoyed at it. It’s certainly not a new thing since it was bought by Disney. The show has just had two different events that really could and maybe should have been involving aliens. The villagers from eps 4-6. They should have been aliens. But it’s cheaper to do humans, so they did that. Now the prison. There should at least be Wookiee. They are slave labor even in newer canon. Disney has subtlety, and maybe unintentionally, made the empire a bit less xenophobic and less sexist to a degree. There is still isn’t a ton of women in the Empire, so not a gripe as much as the lack aliens is for me. There’s just a slight shift from how the Empire operated in books and such pre Disney. Even Thrawn’s character loses a little meaning by a lack of emphasis on being anti alien. His high rank used to be shocking. Now with Disney, it’s just a thing that happens and has no need to create reactions. I am sure this is all just cost saving decisions. They still do a good job of showing how evil and wrong the Empire is. They aren’t trying to flip anything around. I just think it’s lost some depth that can be unique to Star Wars. oh well.
Man, the prison stuff was dark as hell. Andy Serkis was unexpected, but I was more surprised by Melchy popping up haha. I’m wondering how this arc ends now. Some sort of prison break I suppose.
