I'll be sad if this doesn't amount to anything. Even if it is just a random one-off festival date or something. Don't tease us like that.
All this Anberlin talk has made me remember for the first time in a while how much I miss them. Been almost 4 years. Miss getting new music from them and seeing them pretty much every year.
Lowborn is a strange album. I wish I didn't know it was made completely separately from each other...it feels very thrown together and disconnected. Recording it the way they did likely contributed to that underlying feeling.
Lowborn is great, especially Velvet and Losing. Only songs I don’t care for are atonement and harbinger.
Atonement is great. I’d definitely agree that Lowborn is better than NS, and probably better than Dark, but Dark might have higher highs than Lowborn for me. Impossible and Pray Tell and Art of War are three of my favorite Anberlin songs.
I don't like every track from either Lowborn, Dark or NS. I still place Lowborn at the bottom because of Art of War, Disappear, Resistance and Prey Tell.
We are Destroyer is up there for sure, but the others can't touch those other tracks. But all in all Little Tyrants still da best
NS is their only standout weak album for me, both lowborn and Dark have plenty of good to top tier songs.
Dark and New Surrender are both pretty bad albums and easily the weakest period of this band for me. Blueprints is fun as hell.
Nope. Anberlin’s been my favorite band for ten years. After Vital I was really hoping they’d explore a lot of different sonic territory and get experimental and that’s exactly what they did. Now if they came back, I’d definitely love a traditional sounding Anberlin album, but I love Lowborn to pieces.
I knew it would come to this. Cities New Surrender (yes, I did that) Vital Never Take Friendship Personal Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place Blueprints for the Black Market v v v Lowborn
I am speechless. Happy for people to not like Lowborn - taste is subjective after all - but to rate it that much lower than Blueprints really does blow my mind.
I'd put Lowborn on par with Blueprints. Both significantly better than their worst but significantly worse than their best.
