Finally sat down to do this. Godspeed vs Paperthin vs Little Tyrants was cruel. I’m sure we can all agree if the Gold playlist was a full Anberlin album, it would be their greatest album. Gold Playlist: 1. The Resistance 2. Little Tyrants 3. Other Side 4. A Whisper & a Clamor 5. Glass to the Arson 6. Disappear 7. The Art of War 8. The Feel Good Drag 9. Reclusion 10. Modern Age 11. Dismantle. Repair. 12. (*Fin) Silver Playlist: 1. The Haunting 2. Paperthin Hymn 3. Stationary Stationery 4. Someone Anyone 5. The Unwinding Cable Car 6. Pray Tell 7. Desires 8. Alexithymia 9. Inevitable 10. Cadence 11. God, Drugs & Sex Bronze Playlist: 1. Self-Starter 2. Godspeed 3. Take Me (As You Found Me) 4. (The Symphony of) Blasé 5. A Day Late 6. Innocent 7. Hello Alone 8. Type Three 9. Audrey, Start the Revolution! 10. Haight Street
I actually think Vital is my favorite Anberlin album now. Just the perfect combination of everything that makes this band great.
Did anyone ever get the chance to see this? I know they released it for rental on Vimeo but it's now been removed. I never got around to seeing it and now it looks like it's gone

Nate just posted a photo of all 5 of them (currently) together on his Instagram story. Got real nostalgic real fast.
I thought they were never gonna be together again at the same time. Guess that was a lie. Guess that means an album is theoretically possible. I’m fine being lied to.
That was just Stephen using his trademarked hyperbole. I doubt we're getting tours or new music or anything like that.
Just won an Anberlin promo CD off eBay with alternate versions of NTFP songs...been looking for that for a long time. Glad no one else bid against me lol.
Anberlin official, Stephen and Nate posted videos from them hanging out. Probably just hanging out for fun but that's a lot of intentionality posting from three accounts...they gotta know that'll stir things up a bit.
I never knew they weren't a fan of that album. I knew I wasn't too big on it compared to the rest of their stuff, so that's interesting. What didn't they like about it?
They had lots of writer’s block around that time, Neal Avron worked them like horses and gave them “homework” in the studio and made them re-do parts over and over again, and I think they just weren’t very satisfied with the songs in the end. Or maybe they were at the time, but several albums later they commented on how they considered New Surrender to be sort of a rough patch.
What songs are on it? Is it the one with alternate mixes of Paperthin Hymn? I think that’s the only one I know about.
aw man, that's such a bummer since it was their first major studio release. You'd think it'd be nothing but excitement and hype. Overall I was disappointed when I heard it, esp coming off of Cities, but I still jam Resistance, Disappear, Feel Goo D Drag and Younglife pretty reg.
