-Armageddon -We Are Destroyer (best song on the album. I just wish the album version matched the energy of it live) -Harbinger -Birds of Prey
Atonement (this song is a nice send off for them) We Are Destroyer (Nice opening song and that bass!) Stranger Ways Birds of Prey
At bedtime birds of prey and hearing voices have rebounded from early deficits. The race continues into the night. Atonement: 4 Armageddon: 8 Hearing Voices: 5 We Are Destroyer: 7 Stranger Ways: 8 Harbinger: 4 Birds of Prey: 6 Velvet Covered Brick: 6
I would love to get inside of their head for the writing of the record. It seems like Tooth and Nail just let them do whatever they wanted. Do you listen to the Labeled Podcast at all?
I bet a lot of people would love it that listen to Anberlin and a lot of the other Tooth and Nail/Solid State bands. It's a couple of the guys from Emery and someone from As Cities Burn. They are currently on Zao right now and it's divided into two parts. As far as I have know, they have done: -As Cities Burn -Me Without You -Underoath -Dead Poetic -Beloved -Terminal -Emery?
Atonement We Are Destroyer Stranger Ways Birds of Prey Armageddon beating out Atonement is heartbreaking to me. You guys are crazy.
Atonement - not a fan of Armageddon We Are Destroyer- this was a tough one as Hearing Voices is a brilliant song Stranger Ways - no contest here Velvet Covered Brick - another tough decision. Happy either way this goes!
Most of these choices have been easy. The only tough one have been Atonement vs. Losing It All. Songs like Armageddon, Dissenter, Hearing Voices and Harbinger never grew on me. I'm not a big fan of electronic parts in rock and/or alternative rock either. Birds of Prey gets better when the real instruments come in, but I still wouldn't say I like that song. We Are Destroyer and Velvet Covered Brick are to me "classic" Anberlin tracks, and they're quite good songs. But I think it's the not-so-classic-Anberlin 80's vibe on Stranger Ways that make it the best track on the record.
Atonement vs Armageddon was rough. Had to go with Atonement because it felt like a definitive goodbye song for the band.
I just realized Velvet Covered Brick is my least favorite on the record and I still pretty much love it. Also, Atonement is the best ballad in their discography to me. I didn't think they'd ever write a better ballad than The Unwinding Cable Car, but Atonement made me weep when I first heard it. The last minute might actually be the most beautiful moment in their discography to me.
