YES. The last chorus is my favorite moment on the record for that reason. The epitome of badass. I love how even on one of Anberlin's lesser records, the opener still owns.

Yup. Godspeed, Self-Starter, and The Resistance are three of the better album openers I've ever heard. And the other four are pretty awesome too.

 

I love all their openers. I believe they played them all on the farewell tour if I remember correctly.

They usually have the best openers. Their only weak one IMO is We Owe This to Ourselves.

They do have some really solid openers. We Owe This To Ourselves isn't a bad song but I prefer the rest of the album over it. Kind of like how I feel about Thrice's All The World is Mad on Beggars

 

I really like We Owe This to Ourselves but I think it works better as a non-opening track. Weird, but I actually inserted I'd Like to Die at the beginning of Dark once and I thought it was surprisingly effective as an unconventional opener.

 

Hmmm, I can see that. During this tour I saw them open up with Art of War and never would have expected it to work as well as it did since it's not a fast opener or anything.

Everything from Godspeed to The Resistance is great, Readyfuels is good and We Owe This is just okay.

 

We Are Destroyer is one of those songs that blows me away more and more with time. I don't know how Anberlin managed to pump out song after song like that.

 

It sounded so fantastic and heavier live. Makes me wish they recorded it with that energy, but having a different producer for each instrument probably made it harder to have that sound.
