what's funny is that they only pressed 1,000 copies. idk if there's a way to check remaining stock, but if all the variants are still available, it probably isn't selling well
i tried checking inventory that way and wasn't able to since they cap it at 2 copies per purchase. genuinely surprised they sold that much.
I think it’s important to acknowledge that for (almost) everyone in this thread, there are a lot of people supportive of the direction the band has taken… otherwise why would they bother? If they weren’t making money it would have fallen on the wayside.
Never underestimate the ability of groups of people to collectively make unpopular decisions despite overwhelming warning signs.
I mean I supported Mary’s version because they took Copeland out playing in motion. What do you want from me?
Or like most places on the internet these days, this forum is niche and doesn't represent that greater majority of folks.
Niche. And we're actually not the only location on the internet unhappy with the way things are going.
Take this with a grain of salt, but I have it on good authority that even Matty’s extended family chat isn’t happy with the current state of Anberlin
you can find similar criticism on Reddit. again, people in this thread are aware of why they've made the decisions they've made. we're just upset that they've also come at the cost of transparency and walking back things they said would/wouldn't be happening.
I like to think the supportive fans are still in the novelty phase for the supportive folks and that this weird sort-of-but-not-really nostalgia draw will be unsustainable. But I also recognize that writing mature, artful scene music apparently isn’t sustainable either. TBH the most upsetting part for me, beyond the legacy tarnishing, weird re-recordings, and nostalgia plays is just how much I dislike matty as a frontman in general, let alone for anberlin, but that’s my own issue lol.
I just want new music so we don't have to go through the same arguments every other week (and also because I ran out of nicknames for Martyr)
i'd have interest in new music if a) Stephen was involved to some extent (even if it'd be great for him to the the primary or only vocalist), and b) they continued with the sounds from Silverline and Convinced and not just regurgitate the sound of their older material (even Seven, while Matty-led, felt closer to those songs than anything else they've released in the past year). but it seems like none of those things are happening anytime soon, if at all.
We are going to give him so many nicknames that it evolve all the way back to calling him Matty being the joke
