Finally spun this classic tonight and I didn’t know there was 12x12 cards in the case that has retrospective thoughts from Stephen, Nate, Deon, & Joesph. the lyrics sheet also has track by track commentary from Stephen. I learned from two of the guys retrospective’s that paperthin hymn and the feel-good drag almost didn’t make the album. They were added last minute. They said that paperthin hymn was basically two songs put together to make the one It reminded me of sum 41 talking about fat lip which that happened the same way with two Unfinished songs merging into one and then for feel good drag, they had the music, but the lyrics were never finished. And they had already left the studio But somebody at the label wanted a heavier song on the album to balance everything out, so Stephen flew back to the studio and on the way he wrote the lyrics on the plane.
For those of you missing Stephen's vocals, the new Anchor & Braille record is up for preorder: Two variants: New Mexico • Half Blue/Half Yellow/Orange Splatter New Mexico • Opaque Blue
the album was completed in April 2024, but is just now being released. he claimed to be recording new Anberlin vocals around the same time, but obviously those never surfaced, so who knows what the hell he's doing with them at this point (i assume nothing)?
not ruling it out, but wouldn't rule out the band holding onto them either (or they just didn't make the cut with their "new direction" or whatever)
Is it cultural appropriation if Stephen moves to NM just long enough to wear a big ol' cowboy hat and stand next to some horses?
I pretty much only listen to the Devotion tracklist and tend to forget which of it was on the original Vital. absolutely insane that City Electric was a b-side
For as much as I didn’t like Lowborn, We Are Destroyer is a great opener. Going through a play through right now.
