Aaron is such a kind dude. We met backstage at a show and I mentioned to him that I had been to a show with his side project and he was genuinely so appreciative I took the time to check out his music. Genuinely wanted feedback and essentially asked my thoughts on the set and the songs. I think fans don’t realize not every frontman is an attention machine and that it takes a lot to get on stage and be a public figure and be obligated to be on social media.
Say what you will about the current state of the band (of which I’ve said plenty). But goddamn they have a great catalog. NTFP, Cities and Vital are masterpieces.
i wish Vital got as much public love as that 3 album stretch of NTFP to NS. it's probably their most realized record but it never garnered the popularity that those other records did (obviously it has a lot of critical praise). i'm assuming the label was partially to blame there
Cities will always be my favorite for when I came to it (on top of the quality), but Vital is probably the one I actually like best.
i'm glad they did a 12" for the boxset. it'd be cool if they did a wider release (or just press Devotion, guys, c'mon)
Vital is equal with Cities for me. They got the mix of guitars and electronics perfect on that record imo
it kind of rocks that they've never really upped the production quality of bus invaders. still weirdly bad audio, bad camerawork, and the most unflattering thumbnails of all time. i respect it.
im old friends with the guy who runs/created it and his model is always 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' haha!
Those last EPs are such a step above what we got with Lowborn. I find myself constantly going back to them. Makes me want to do a discog runthrough.
Btw Vital > all. Would love that on a cool 12" vinyl. That album was a perfect time/perfect place for me.
I refuse to listen to those songs in the Devotion order. I mean, I have, but I don't prefer it that way at all. For me its always Vital as it originally was. Then the extra Devotion songs as an EP.
I'm normally Vital and then Devotion bonus tracks but I'll take whatever "order" they give us on vinyl if they'd just effing do it. Really don't give a shit.
