oddly enough, Tim was the nicest of the members when i met a few of them in 2018, but that was just my experience

I feel like I’ve fully gone through the stages of grieving with this band lol

I’m pretty sure my first concert was anberlin’s farewell (lol) tour in San Fransisco with Lakes opening. Got me into Lakes and Fire Ahead resonated with me a lot at the time (It even inspired the name of my first band!).

Never got to check out the second album, but it feels hard to go back now. I remember going through his tweets and seeing the wildest incel shit I’ve ever seen with my jaw on the floor.

Like, I know plenty of great and kind people that fall more on the conservative side of politics; this was NOT the same thing.

I know not everyone followed that thread, but Seth from Watashi Wa messaged me on Facebook asking why I was being so mean in that thread and that he wanted to talk it out and gave me his phone number lol

We reach for the longest shadow

I've only met Aaron, and it was after a small The Almost show, but he was... not the nicest. Honestly I don't get great vibes from any of them, Maybe Chris or Grant.

To be a fly on the wall at the T&N offices in the months leading up to the release of that Watashi Wa album…”no one checked his socials before we approved releasing the track listing and guest vocals???” Lmao

I didn’t seen anberlin for the first time until the dark is the way album cycle. Def a band I wish I saw sooner. Became friendly with Christian after they broke up because we both live in Nashville and used to see him around town.

I saw them open for Relient K in 2003. That was a hell of a show.

Was that the See Spot Rock tour? I saw them with Relient K too. Crazy that was the only time I ever got to see them, wasn’t even a big fan at the time until NTFP came out

I think it was the Everybody Wants to Rule the World Tour? It was RK, Anberlin, and Don’t Look Down. I remember my uncle being pissed because RK was “Christian” and DLD flipped the audience off lol

Something that has recently started bothering me outside of all the stupid Marty stuff with the band is something else that I noticed with Underoath i think too. When Underoath did their “break up with God” thing, eventually it became eye roll-y thing because I believe I grew up very similar to them (conservative, Christian). It came across very cheap and not having much nuance to it. I have gone through I’m assuming something very similar in my own faith/ deconstruction. Outside of that, I feel like I have noticed both bands (or some of the members at least) seem very egotistical/insufferable.

Growing up as a youth group kid, they were bands I really admired/wanted to be like. Loved their music, and they believed what i believed, walked the walk etc. They were (or seemed) very humble/down to earth dudes.

Also, Aaron Marsh probably ruined/ended one of my favorite podcasts, lol. One of the dudes that use to play in Tigers Jaw ran a podcast called “Our Pod Is An Awesome Pod (Great name lol) where they reviewed old Tooth and Nail album/CCM albums and they did one on a Copeland and this is how he responded:

This is probably a long ass rant but whatever :crylaugh:

aaron marsh consistently comes off like such an arrogant, pretentious prick. one of those guys whose music i enjoy but i don't really respect him as a person lol.

Yeah what a crass response. It’s a tag on social media. You can probably toggle that off, Aaron Darsh.

  23. I know I’m not a normal person given my history in the industry, but Aaron’s been one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Kind, caring, remembers I live in Portland and always reaches out. And, I also am annoyed when people tag me in things where I’m just being shit talked. It’s not fun to see.

happy to be wrong on this one. maybe he's just one of those folks who're great irl but don't come off the best on socials.

Yeah, Aaron is a good dude who definitely gets frustrated with weird social media stuff, especially for a podcast that spent most its time shitting on his music, so I get why he’d be annoyed.
