Anberlin vinyl represses of Cities and Never Take Friendship Personal are available here: Cities Anberlin - Cities 2LP (Limited SMLXL Repress) Never Take Friendship Personal Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal LP (Limited SMLXL Repress)
These are limited and selling. Not sure they'll sell out today or tomorrow but they didn't press a ton of them either. Not trying to pressure, just giving a heads up.
Snagged Cities earlier. Debated NTFP, but I'll take the chance of it getting repressed at some point. Cities will get way more spins.
God would that be amazing. They had a yahoo stream of a show on the last tour and its on youtube, but it cuts off before Fin.
What if it actually was a return? Would they be all into it? Kinda silly that they've updated the profile pic three times now. Definitely has people talking but could also but an "intern error".
If they returned, it really would feel like a case of the ol' blue-balls. It really did feel like a legit farewell with the final album + tour and i'd much prefer that those final memories not be tarnished.
Yeah they have been so adamant about this being the end of Anberlin and have put so much into this farewell that it would come off as incredibly disingenuous to come back at this point.
But I could see them releasing some sort of last show DVD...the promotional cycle for Stephen Christian's "Wildfire" is winding down, so perhaps this means something in that vein is coming. Or it means absolutely nothing and we're all fools.
Hadn't they mentioned that they wanted to continue making music but not as a full time band? I thought I had read somewhere that they'd be open to releasing music as small EP's or something in the future but never really getting fully back together.
I don't think it was quite like that. I think they said that they could see, maybe, eventually, a one-off reunion show or something, but never a tour and I don't think any new music, either. At least I never read or heard any possibility of new music. To me, the idea of recording any new songs after releasing "Harbinger" as the final song on Lowborn would be just as silly as going on another full tour after making such a big deal about The Final Tour.
But then one of them also said at one point that all five of them would never be in the same room together again.
With that logic, they would have quit after Cities, Fin* is as epic a closer as it gets and the name is fitting But yeah, I agree with you that we won't get any new music from them as Anberlin.
