Reminds me of the time I saw a livestream of Anberlin playing through NTFP with their singer, Stephen.
There was a real ... not sophistication because it's alternative rock and lol ... but sort of seriousness with this band that I always appreciated that quickly went away once Marty joined. Yeah it was a little self-righteous at times but they wore it well. This is ... not it. More power to them though.
Interestingly, I got an email offering me a discount code because I’ve paid for a livestream before. Not sure whether to read into that or not…
I probably got one, too. But I know I just immediately deleted any emails from them about the stream, so whatever. I don’t want to hear Marty sing.
Yeah, me reading into it would be a lot of fans don’t want to watch a livestream with Marty singing NTFP so they’re sending out discount codes as it’s not sold well…
I really don’t know how Veeps works. Like, does the band get a cut per ticket? Or just a set amount. Just no clue.
I'm a little confused with Veeps. The stream is available for $14.99 (or about $11.24 with the 25% off code), but the monthly service is $5.99 and that includes the stream anyway. Why would anyone pay for a 'ticket' for the one stream? I'm not planning on getting the stream or the subscription service either way. Just seemed kind of odd with the pricing.
Anberlin just posted a clip from the start of their NTFP tour and there is a re-record of Dance, Dance Christa in the background with Matty on vocals. Definitely makes me think they have a full re-record of this album coming out at some point considering this is the 3rd or 4th song we've heard re-recorded in the background of an Anberlin post. Not that I'm going to listen, but just something I noticed.
The audacity. Has there been another band thats gone back in their catalogue and rerecorded with their new singer..? I cant think of another.
I know they have his blessing or whatever, but it still kind of feels like a slap in the face to Stephen. I mean who is asking for this? Is anyone going to want to listen to NTFP and say to themselves "you know what, I'm gonna put on the Matty Mullins version"?
That's just a theory based on my own findings, so I'm not sure it's actually going to happen, but anything is a possibility with this band at this point.
I feel like a lot of this has to do with publishing. He records a version, that’s now a chance for someone to listen to his version, they all get another revenue stream for publishing.
lol nate bummed king state is largely defunct and copy posting the irreverent silly style over anberlin merch. I am sure Matty has done vocals over the original recordings because he has a home studio. I imagine people will listen once out of curiosity or will have a strong negative reaction to it. Making new music to keep the band going is cool, but who wants to hear him on old tracks when the original singer is iconic in the scene?
The locations are closed and they haven’t done new merch outside of the one off event coming up. They still do distribution on beer and sell coffee online. The og spot was one of my favorite all day food and drink spots ever. I hope they make a comeback in the future.
