same! I meant to post about the new single on the progmetal thread. I’ll probably head that way shortly.
I regret to inform y’all I really like Seven. Also listening to the first time on my good headphones, and I think Stephen does backing vocals, at least in the quiet bridge.
Listening to Vega as an album right now and honestly I feel like it's making me like the EP songs less. I know that's ridiculous, but here we are
It’s because the sequence is baffling. Totally front loaded with too many ballads strung together at the end.
Sequence is ridiculous. I just made my own and it sounds great. "Walk Alone" is hard to fit anywhere though.
Yeah I feel like Seven at least thematically fits on the album but Walk Alone sounds like an entire different album and band
I posted something to this effect a couple pages ago, but try this sequencing on for size (sans Walk Alone). IMO it's much better:
I feel like a StephenM song trading vocals would have softened the blow. Walk Alone feels like a throw back to some of their older stuff. I personally like it and would have loved a whole Matty EP and then the album of all the songs together.
This is the feeling I was getting with the remaster and the two new songs. I just went back to the EPs.
Yeah the EP songs sound somewhat life-less to me on the album. I went back to the EP's and just downloaded the Matty songs separately. It's incredible how much I get the itch to listen to those EP's considering they were released a little bit ago.
i think the only song the album has done that for on my end is Two Graves, which could partially be due to the fact that the song is 3 years old. it never really felt like a great opener, but placing it as track 8 feels a tiny bit odd.
apparently Matty couldn't perform a couple nights ago so the Emery dudes, Geoff Rickley, Ben from AFS and maybe others filled in on vocals. Really need to find some footage of that.
The fact there is seemingly no footage of any of this (Stephen, Geoff, etc.) online except photos is killing me haha
Man imagine a rotating anberlin frontman. Or an album with a different singer each song like Scary Kids did. A proper record with the emery guys, Geoff, etc would’ve been incredible.
oh hey I saw this band last night never did get to see them back in the day and sad that once I finally did Stephen was no longer doing vocals
I saw them too. I hated every second of Matty constantly smiling while yelling all the songs at us and orchestrating an invisible symphony with his arms.
Careful, they'll find you and be passive aggressive about your opinions on them replacing the singer of their band lol
