That whole thing is so bad, but the way the 100 voices sing "friend" literally doesn't sound real. This song not being as heavy as the other clips makes the robotic tones way more noticeable too. Not quite the same, but one time I recorded an album somewhere on the mid-tempo indie/alternative spectrum, and the band at one point brought in a drummer who was very into metal. Long story short, they had a fairly slow song with a swing beat and this man wanted to throw double kicks all over the place in it. Very jarring. But the way that the Matty metallic orchestra sings this song gives me a similar feeling. It just really, really, does not work singing A Day Late like it's a Memphis Mayfire song.
Somehow never heard this and it’s B-Side from my favorite album.Sounds like mix of Yellowcard & NFG with Stephen on vocals. You can’t replace the man.
I always thought this sounded like a lost track from NTFP. Interesting how he repurposed the “you just keep wearing me out, but I’m wearing you down” lyrics on Impossible.
New interview with Christian M. where he shares some more detail on the changes and what's to come...
Just a lot of stuff that’s already been surmised and not much new….theres no hard return/end date for Stephen’s hiatus and the decision was made early last year. Stephen can’t commit to touring but they didn’t want the band to end again, so instead of calling it quits again this is the solution. He says it was Stephen’s idea to bring a touring singer in. He mentions that they’ve been recording with both Stephen and Matty.
I just hope whoever is producing whatever they’re making has the foresight to not let Matty employ his choir of mechanical voices on Anberlin stuff. Depending on what Matty actually sounds like I might be able to stomach some of him, but if his vocals are produced like he does on everything else it will 100% ruin whatever he’s on for me.
Record both Matty and Stephen together. One panned to the left, the other on the right I can see the vision
