I should have prefaced "in an all Anberlin playlist, which is your least favorite/most skipped." Oh well.
So I'm probably way late on this, but I just realized that the Vital Remixes album is on Spotify. I really wish I had more b-sides and remixes from them. :/
This band has so many b-sides lol. I guess the Devotion tracks technically aren't anymore, but there is the "Lost Songs", and all the extra tracks from Dark and NS As much as I wish they were still a band, it's hard to be discontent with what they've left us. Seven studio albums, live recordings, b-sides, remixes, not to mention a year heads up to make sure you caught them live one more time. (This comment isn't really directed at anyone, just something I've come to realize)
Yeah... I'm not unhappy with the discography in the slightest. I just wish it were easier to get to the b-sides and remixes. I don't have much of anything aside from what's on Spotify and I haven't been able to find much elsewhere. :(
Just listened to Vital for the first time in a long time and I gotta say it might be my favorite Anberlin album at this point. It's a perfect record but I never wanted to admit it cuz of my nostalgia for Cities.
Vital is my number 2, but I could see it tipping the scale depending on my mood. Both are albums that don't have any filler for me, which every other album has IMO.
It's funny when you bring filler into it because I actually don't like Adelaide and don't think it fully fits on the album. Unpopular opinion. Cities still my fav, closely followed by Vital.
I'd argue NTFP doesn't have any filler either. I enjoy all other Anberlin releases to varying amounts, but NTFP, Cities and Vital are near flawless.
I've heard that lot about Adelaide actually, but it's one of my favorite songs on the record. Even if it doesn't have the same tone as the rest of the songs.
I dunno, for me Runways, Time & Confusion and A Heavy Hearted Work of Staggering Genius are always skips for me. I'm still a huge Anberlin fan, I promise!
Runaways and Time & Confusion are so good. Better than the majority of what they put out after Cities imo. Heavy Hearted is just an interlude really. My least favourite on NTFP is Feel Good Drag and that's still a good song.
I am probably one of the only people more partial to Anberlin's post-Tooth and Nail albums. Prefer both Vital and Dark to any of their Tooth and Nail releases. Haha The only album I don't love by the band though is Blueprints.
I don't dislike anything on NTFP, but I also think it's pretty uneven. I like NTFP, Paperthin Hymn, Blasé, A Day Late, Feel Good Drag, and Dance Dance much more than the rest of the album, which is all pretty good I don't feel that way with Vital or Cities, where it is all great.
I love the song, I just don't like it's placement on the album. A Whisper & A Clamor sounds great coming off the tail end of Godspeed.
Haha, it seems like it. I think we're similar with Copeland and Relient k though. You're like the only other person who ranks Five Score highly I've seen on the site, so we have that going for us.
I don't think I've ever ranked the albums before. Vital=Cities>NTFP>Lowborn>Dark>Blueprints>New Surrender. Blueprints gets the edge over NS because it has the one-two punch of Cadence and Naïve Orleans.
I quietly also rank Five Score very highly... Probably right behind FANSD for me personally. That has more to do with hearing that album at a certain point in my life though than the music itself probably.
Honestly, if Stephen keeps up the quality of Anchor & Braille I could see myself liking that project more than Anberlin.
Did anyone pre-order that box set? I think it originally was supposed to be released on Sept 28, but I haven't heard or seen anything from the process of making them.
I did and I have yet to hear anything further from them. I’m assuming it’s still coming at the end of September though.
