Interesting. When they last came to New Zealand in 2013(?), after the show they were all on this big deck where the fans were hanging out, chatting to them etc.. but there was this was weird feeling like they didn't want to be around each other at that time. Joey distanced himself from the others and just smoked in a corner by himself and Nate was by himself on the complete opposite side of the deck aswell. Probably nothing to it and nothing more than jet lag but yeah was a kind of weird vibe after the show that night.

Is the generally accepted position that Closer is bad? I adore that song but I think I remember a lot of criticism when it was first released.
I would put Closer in the mid tier range on the album. Pretty solid but not Art Of War or Pray Tell level.
closer is fantastic and I was completely dumbfounded when it didn’t roll through the bracket. With this being their more minimalistic/“diluted” album, I thought the harder songs like closer popped way more and I find the slower songs pretty dull.
If we’re talking bonus tracks, Cities’ were perfect (Uncanny/The Haunting), plus Heavier Things Remain (because it exhudes Cities energy), but I also have a major soft spot for A Perfect Tourniquet. Extremely overlooked, IMO.
Also, everyone who picked Glass to the Arson needs to clarify whether or not they meant the 8-bit version.
Closer is terrific. One of the biggest-sounding songs Anberlin has ever written. Really bummed it didn’t become their next Feel Goo D Drag (that was for you @Davjs).
I still think Hell or High Water was one of the stronger songs from the DITW sessions and should have made the album. But let's face it, Every Anberlin record has at least one really strong b-side (except for Lowborn..because it didn't have any b-sides!)
Blueprints: Readyfuels, Cadence, Glass To The Arson NTFP: Paperthin Hymn, Feel Good Drag, Audrey It's Time to Start The Tevolution Cities: Fin, Dismantle.Repair., Godspeed New Surrender: Feel Good Drag, Disappear, Resistance DITW: The Art Of War, Pray Tell, Impossible Vital: Little tyrants, Self Stater, Type Three Lowborn: We Are Destroyer, Dissenter, Atonement
Interesting! I'm kind of surprised how distant the other guys in the band were. It seemed like at the end the band was very open and forthcoming about everything, but I guess it just felt that way because of how much Stephen and Joey were willing to talk. I, too, hope they come back for the right reasons. I'd love to see them again but for some reason this comeback seems weird to me considering how thick the line in the sand they drew was.
Eff it. Just bought tickets. If it was just Anberlin, I doubt I'd go but literally UØ and DGD and Anberlin are all too played bands by my iTunes records. Free flights with the points. Make a weekend vacation out of it. PS It's a Yuengling Center. Can any Tampa locals help with best seats in the arena? Not doing GA. Bought section 219 which is facing the stage dead center. Didn't know if that's too far away or not. Any help appreciated haha.
speaking of Pray Tell. every once and awhile i think of this video and laugh. wait for it at the end.
aw, that kiss was adorable. I am bummed I didn't get to see that tour. I remember seeing YouTube videos of it and their lighting for that tour was cool and they never brought it back out I don't think. Also I think they were opening up with Art of War which would have ruled too.
Listening to Vital again and man, I love how Intentions is so electronic and Synth heavy and for the the bridge throws you off by going crazy with the guitar. Unexpected and I love it. This album really is their 2nd best.
