print this off. They're going to play this show, then release some more dates and eventually music, saying something along the lines of "we didnt realize how much we missed it, that show energized us to come back, etc etc."
They're totally going the Underoath route minus the anniversary tours. I expect an album in the next two years.
Jamming Anberlin in honor of the return. Decided to go with New Surrender on a whim. Man, I really do like Younglife actually.
Lowborn was such a "finale" album, though. All of the lyrical themes dealt with topics such as closure, forgiveness, friendship, etc. - it was a perfect swan song (and also my 2nd favorite album of theirs, you read that right). Take that and couple it with their adamant denials of reunion, and this show is not something I'm honestly that excited about. BFTBM: Readyfuels, Cadence, Naive Orleans NTFP: Never Take Friendship Personal, Paperthin Hymn, The Feel Good Drag Cities: The Unwinding Cable Car, Dismantle. Repair., (*Fin) New Surrender: The Resistance, Soft Skeletons, Miserabile Visu DITW, LIAP: Impossible, Art of War, Depraved [NOTE: I REALLY, REALLY DID NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM] Vital: Self Starter, Modern Age, God Drugs & Sex (ISJW if we count Devotion) Lowborn: Stranger Ways, Atonement, Hearing Voices (not in order of love, but in order of track listing) Overall ranking: Cities > Lowborn > Vital > NTFP > New Surrender >>>>>BFTBM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DITW,LIAP
Just spun Dark Is the Way. Surprised that it is regarded by many as a weak spot in their discography. Really like what they did on that album.
If you're hatred for Dark wasn't so great, and you put it between NTFP and NS, I'd be right on board. What you said about Lowborn is so accurate. It's my second favorite behind Cities for the very reasons you said.
Tim and Nate are brother in laws, and Underoath and Anberlin have been friends for a while it seems. Both from Florida and came up during the height of Tooth and Nail/Solid State.
Dark Is The Way has my favorite Anberlin song of all time - “Pray Tell”. Also, the record is just honestly really good. I was one of the people who didn’t appreciate it at the time of release either but I was a damn fool.. because it’s a great album and definitely better than New Surrender.
Yeah all that makes sense, still just a little weird from a music style standpoint. I personally love both though. Jealous it's not a tour.
Art of War is another great track off of that one. I respect that it really keeps a mood going through the whole album, I just wish there wasn't such a "less is more" approach, especially with some of the choruses.
Blueprints- Cadence, Readyfuels, Naive Orleans NTFP- Paperthin Hymn, Never Take Friendship Personal, Dance Dance Christa Paffgen Cities - Dismantle.Repair., fin, Reclusion New Surrender - Breaking, The Resistance, Blame Me Blame Me Dark - Pray Tell, Closer, We Owe This To Ourselves Vital - Modern Age, Other Side, Self-Starter Lowborn - Stranger Ways, Hearing Voices, We Are Destroyer
FWIW, Stephen says they won't be adding more dates. Unless you wanna parse it to mean "on this particular tour."
But he also replied to someone on there who said they need to come to Toronto and make up for their cancelled final tour date, saying "OK." *shrug*
The more I think about, the more this kind of bums me out. I’m all about them coming back, and changing their minds and whatnot, but to go back on a statement like they made back in 2014 about their legacy to play one show opening for Underoath that the vast majority of their fans won’t be able to go to... Just doesn’t seem worth it to me if there’s not more.
I feel like, if they are going to fully come back, the least they can do is to be straightforward and honest about it. If they do a whole cryptic build-up and give vague answers on social media about whether or not they're coming back, after saying so clearly that they wouldn't be coming back, that's kinda disrespectful IMO.
Exactly. The build up, the taped together photo, the vagueness. What if I book a plane ticket and a hotel room and tickets and then they announce a tour, or I expect a tour and don’t and then miss out? Idk. Just kind of shitty. I hope they announce something more clear. They have some very loyal fans.
