I can't remember exact details but I'm pretty sure they've said that the original master came back super distorted so it had to be re-done really quickly or fixed or something.
Interesting! We had an issue like that when mastering our album, had to send back the master two or three times before we got something workable.
Song is really good, but can't help but think there's a little too much going on. I don't even know if I would've pegged it as an Anberlin song if I heard it blind because of how many different vocals are layered with all the different effects. Heavy is such an odd term with this band. Most screams? Maybe, but Dead American usually takes that one for me. Instrumentally it's probably up there with something like Desires or the OG Feel Good Drag. I guess I'd put on the heavier side if their songs got split into spectrums.
First listen, seems a little "busy" at times, but I like it. So glad to hear something like this from them. Wonder who will do the screams live, Christian?
Wait, why is there a different singer? What did I miss? This sounds like one of those overproduced modern metalcore songs. Not sure I'm into it.
I think it's just the guitarist doing some vocals, and the screams are from the guy who helped them produce the song according to Instagram.
Suprised to see a few people don't like the other vocal on the song. Christian McAlhaney the rhythm guitarist does A LOT of backing vocals live so it's nice to see/hear him on an official track as well. At first I was surprised as well but I tihnk it's a nice addition to this song and also shows that they do not fear to experiment with new things.
Christian sings on Two Graves too so this isn't a brand new thing. But I am surprised he has the first vocals on Lacerate given he isn't the lead
