EP is great, into it more than the last few albums.

 

"Two Graves" (Official Music Video)

Edit: for some reason this video feels like the perfect continuation of the 'Stranger Ways' music video.

 

I just compared the single version and the EP version in Audacity and they are identical

 

I wonder if they updated both? Someone out there must have an early download of it. I feel like it's a better mix, with the vocals more present than my first listen. But I could be wrong.

 

I was comparing my own person download from a year ago and the new one, so I think your ears are just playing tricks on you

They lose me a bit on the slower songs, but 3 solid Anberlin songs is 3 more than I was anticipating this time last year

 

All 5 songs sound so sonically different while also carrying the same Anberlin thread and I love that.

Two Graves - heavy AF. Almost could be an Underøath song instrumentally. Full force “we’re back and in your face” vibes

Nothing Lost - the chorus contrasts so well with the verses here instrumentally and kinda sneaks up on you upon first listen. Super catchy

Body Language - your typical Anberlin slow mood. I like what they did towards the end of this song with almost “True Faith” style guitar

Asking - a slow burn that builds to a really cool crescendo that is SOOO Anberlin I love it

Circles - pretty much encompasses all of the high elements in the previous four songs. Definitely my favorite here

Love the whole EP, so happy to have the band back and absolutely killing it. The mix feels claustrophobic which does detract a bit but overall I'm just happy to have Anberlin back in my life! Can't wait to hear these songs live.

 

this is fantastic and i think they've really captured their core sound while still pushing forward excellently here.

 

Listened to the EP only one time through but I really enjoyed what I heard. Excited to hear the songs through my headphones as opposed to my car. Glad to know there are more songs on the way. Might underplay these songs just for the fact that they’ll be in an album later.

 

I can’t get over how much I love this. Always nerve racking to have one of your favorite bands come back after so long with the risk of being let down.

That is not the case here.

 

i expected this to overall be a lot heavier based on Two Graves and that Tim & JJ were involved in production...but the softer songs on here are growing on me big time

 

Been listening to this nonstop all week. Body Language is giving me heavy Phil Collins vibes and already feels like an all-timer for the band. Every song on this thing is an absolute homerun though.

 

Can’t believe how much Nothing Lost surprised me. My secret favorite on here even though I was obsessed with Two Graves and Circles. Really excited to hear the next EP.

 

the discord and Reddit don’t seem to be as high on body language but that’s the one that’s been on HEAVY repeat for me since release.

 

Asking is what's doing it for me. One of the best songs I've heard from them lyrically in a while. And the crescendo at the end is already cementing itself as one of my favorite Anberlin moments ever. Gorgeous.

 

I like Body Language and Asking, but as someone could not get into Lowborn at all, the heavy stuff here sorta confirms that this direction isn’t for me… glad everyone seems to be enjoying it!

 

Liking the middle three songs more and more after each listen

 

Stephen was just on the Lead Singer Syndrome podcast. I’ve listened to or watched most interviews he and the guys have done about their breakup and reunion, and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on what happened.

The core of that story is here but it’s also the most honest and raw I’ve heard any of them talk about it. Really illuminating and also makes me appreciate the fact that they came back all the more.

Highly recommend.

It’s a breath of fresh air to hear such honesty. Seems like the band broke up solely or at least mostly because of Stephen.

Happy that they’re back together. Hoping that the second EP coming out this fall comes true.
