This was quite good but could've been 20min shorter. Found it a little draggy in the middle.

It was pretty good, great performance from Huller, but expected a little more overall.

I didn't have an issue with the length but yeah felt like it could have been a little more, still really really good.

I guess seeing headlines and stuff that it was ambiguous whether she did it. There's definitely some ambiguity but I think it really leans towards her being innocent. unless I'm just completely wrong lol

The feeling I got from the film was that although I don't think she actually murdered him, she was still very much a big part of why he died. So it's dissecting what led to his death and in a way by the end either way it's down to her. So I feel like, at least for me, there's more to think about than simply did she kill him violently and maliciously or not.

    hate my favorite band

It’s only in theaters right now. I’m not sure Apple even has rights to the movie at all, but I might’ve missed something

  14. Just got out of this and going to sit with it some. I wasn't really grabbed until the recording was played and then I rarely looked away.

Just real good acting from the dog.

  18. As a Frenchie, it's cool to see a thread for this movie. Caught it when it came out and I was on the edge of my seat during the entire runtime. I don't know if I've hated a character as much as the prosecutor here but they really did a good job displaying all the POVs, making me hesitate between "did she / didn't she?" at various points. I was even on the same page as the aforementioned character, despite being irritated by his pushy behavior, from time to time.

Was the judge that hateable? Seemed kinda like a normal judge to me lol.

  20. I don't watch many movies or TV shows with a courtroom setting so idk, he kinda stood out to me. It felt like he could make anyone breakdown lol

What makes the movie so complex is, it never shows you her abusing him (even psychologically) in the argument scene, but she's so unreadable and internal that it's possible from all the evidence that she really did a number on him. On the other hand, it seems just as likely that the husband was unstable and actually hiding his own psychological abuse by accusing her of the same.

For the movie and for the son later on, it seems less about "did she kill him?" (I think the movie strongly leans towards "no") and more, "is she corrupt enough in general that we can start to believe she killed him, regardless of if she did or not."

I think that's what makes the movie so special. It really plays out like I imagine being on a jury would play out. It's also haunting in the sense of, if she really didn't kill him and he was the main source of toxicity, there's a lot of injustice to the whole proceedings. But we can't ever know that for sure.

  23. Yeah my bad, that's who I meant. Edited my post because I got the incorrect word for his job at first.

I wish I had a better sense of how the criminal system worked in France, because the whole proceeding was *so* different from how the American system works, yet I have no idea how much of that is actual real-life differences vs. it just being a movie. Like the idea of constantly going back and forth between a witness and the defendant when asking questions is crazy to me.

This is the type of Dateline case where it’s like, even if they did *likely* do the murder (which here I’m not sure at all), there is absolutely no way (imo) that it could ever be proven beyond a reasonable doubt absent a confession, and I don’t know how anyone would ever feel comfortable convicting. Like sorry but sometimes criminals get away with it because the evidence the prosecution has isn’t enough, that’s how the system is supposed to work! Instead so many people adopt the mindset of “Well what if they *are* guilty and we just let a guilty person walk???”
