I liked Coven so much more on rewatch than at the time. It was such a tonal shift from Asylum. I’ll still watch whatever they come out with, but I would have loved to get a real conclusive end instead of just continuing forever into possible obscurity.
Yeah I've only ever watched Coven on Netflix, and it makes me wonder if bingeing a season rather than waiting each week helps make the messy storylines less bothersome. When a show is all over the place and you're waiting on an episode each week, it's easy to forget about or jumble random subplots in your head heh. Or that's just my theory anyways.
Wife and I watched the whole series before Apocalypse (hadn't watched any before), and Coven was one of the better seasons for us. Not sure if we just enjoyed the characters more or what, but I never got the feeling that it was super messy.
We’ve been wanting a summer camp season for so long and I hope this is it, but my excitement is way down.
Yeah I think that must all be part of it. I know I mentioned it before, but I’m having a harder time than I expected reconciling that we’re just going back to a standard unconnected story again. Or it may just be that I’m burning out on it in general after the last few years. I was happier with Apocalypse than most, but the way it fell apart at the end took it down a lot for me, and it’s been so long since I was totally satisfied with an ending to a season. I’ll still watch though. I can’t believe I’ve been into it for almost a decade.
I feel like, with the exception of Asylum, I've disliked every other season. I really liked Hotel and, surprisingly, Cult. Didn't like Roanoke, and haven't gotten to Apocalypse yet. Hopefully I'll like this next one. At this point, though, I'm waiting for shows to hit Netflix; following 10+ shows a week was difficult to manage.
I will say that Roanoke is one of my favorites and I'm surprised by some of the heat it gets. It's like they took murder house and made it way scarier and gory. But admittedly, the main characters are less annoying in Murder House. Need to do a rewatch at some point, only watched it while it aired Freak Show, Cult and Apocalypse are the worst seasons for me
I hated Roanoke for so so so many reasons. I expected to tolerate it more on a rewatch since that happened for most of the other seasons, but I could barely even make it through. I used to do a yearly rewatch just for fun when it started, but Cult and Roanoke killed my interest in doing that again.
Oh, for sure, Roanoke is the scariest season. I guess I'm just into this show more for the characters and the weirder seasons. Asylum and Hotel are my top 2. Cult has its fair share of issues, but Ally and Kai were so compelling.
I've watched every season except S1, Cult and Apocalypse and gotta say Roanoke was by far my favorite. I'm really excited for this one, love the slasher concept alot. Hope it'll be like a more serious version of Scream Queens
I watched Murder House when it first premiered, but for some reason never felt compelled to follow up with the show after that. But I ended up making my way through the series recently (minus Apocalypse, waiting for that to drop on Netflix), and my faves were definitely Asylum and Cult. I also really enjoyed Coven and Hotel, tho I definitely had some issues with both. Roanoke started really promising, but for whatever reason by the end I was really not feeling it, and Freak Show was just kinda mediocre all around to me.
I disliked Roanoake for multiple reasons, but one of them was definitely that Taissa deserved better.
It was so bad and unfocused. Way too many characters they bounced around between so really poor character development
Which is not super uncommon in this show in general, but they really threw the kitchen sink in on that one.
Wow not having Evan or Sarah is kind of crazy, but also maybe it’ll like refresh the series a little to have different people take a lead.
That sounds to me like she will still be in it, but in a reduced role. She hasn’t been the star every time, so I don’t know if that will feel like a huge change. Evan being gone totally will stand out more I’m sure.
