Still need to watch ACS but I probably agree with your ranking. I really love FS on an emotional and aesthetic level and thought it had some of the best characters. I’ve also met most of the cast of that season at different conventions so it holds a special place for me. Meeting Jyoti last month was the best.

Admittedly haven't finished Cult yet because I dropped my cable last year. At least it's on Netflix as of today.

Freakshow, Roanoke, and Cult are each underrated. Still haven't made it through Hotel. Blech.

 

It's weird that this thread was pretty positive during the entirety of Cult, and mostly for Roanoake too, but now in retrospect they aren't getting as much love

 

I've liked every season but Freak Show. That's the only one that I didn't care much about. I literally had to force myself to finish it right before Hotel started.

 

Freak Show started out really great, honestly I was pretty damn bummed when the clown plot ended so early

 

I should have been more active in the entertainment forum back then. I would have been a voice of reason. Lol.

 

I enjoyed Roanoke. I think it lost me towards the last episodes, but it was still fun overall. I never saw Hotel or Cult.

Still haven't seen the premiere for this season yet. For some reason, it hasn't shown up on my cable's OnDemand yet.

 

Roanoke was easily the best season imo. I'm always surprised when I see hate for that.

 

I probably should give it another shot one of these days. I didn't give it a fair chance at all quite honestly.

 

It certainly took the most creative risks, and I really think they were excuted well

 

I actually really liked Roanoke but then I fell off midseason just because I didn’t have a ton of free time during that period. I did pick it back up before cult started but I was so confused. I should have done a complete rewatch

 

I feel like this seasons premiere was forever ago, it’s been a long week I guess lol

 

Finally watched the premiere. I'm intrigued.

 

Really tried to give Roanoke another chance but I just hate every major aspect of it. I don’t care about the first part because the DRAMATIC REENACTMENT takes me out of any scares, don’t care about the RTR part because they blew any chance of real suspense by announcing that they all died first thing, and the last episode is just a tacked on mess.

Not to mention that the entire premise is that THIS show was one of the most popular to ever air? Really? And just dumb stuff like I’m supposed to believe there’s a network that will air a literal unedited snuff film but they still bleep f bombs? It’s too bad Murphy couldn’t get the censors to give up a season sooner.

And boy did I forget how ridiculously bad that fake Paleyfest panel was. Ugh the whole thing just disappoints me so much.

There’s a great thread on the subreddit about how the last two seasons feel like a totally different show after all the crew changes, and I think that’s a huge part of it. Roanoke did away with everything that really screams AHS and makes it what is. Maybe if it had had a different name and been like a spin-off with a different format it would have been better.

 

The lady and I are binge watching the whole series right now. We started with Coven (I enjoyed it but there were some aspects I didn't really care for, like the incessant bringing people back from the dead). Finished Murder House (really enjoyed the twists that they threw into that one, especially Violet's arc. Loved that you really didn't know what was real, who was alive, who was who, etc. until much later), and are halfway through Asylum right now which I'm REALLY enjoying (the whole Hans Gruber thing is super interesting, and really love Zachary Quinto's character, he really had me fooled). Gonna save Apocalypse until we watch everything else I think.

 

murder house and Roanoke are my two favorites, well at least i think I convinced myself so as they are the two seasons I introduce new people to the series to.

 

I'm watching Asylum for the first time now, it's the only one I haven't seen. Really enjoying it so far. Just finished the one where Anne Frank shoots the doctor in the leg.

 

I know we're only two episodes in, and I really want to like this, but it's just not good so far. Overacting, indulgent monologues and literally nothing creepy or interesting until the last five minutes of the episode. (And yes, I know this is AHS we're talking about). Just seems to be the show's worst qualities exemplified so far. I'm not even rooting for any of the characters yet because they all suck haha

 

meh, I still like it. Definitely wanted more progression in the episode, but still looking forward to where it goes

 

I really liked the first episode, but last night was a little boring. Still have a lot of hope for the season overall.

 

Yeah all of these characters so far are pretty one-dimensional and not very interesting. The writing feels lazy, especially now that I'm watching Asylum simultaneously, and even that season was a clusterfuck of a million different horror stories happening at once (aliens, bloody face, and Nazi monsters... Could've just stuck to one story, even though I'm admittedly loving the season over all for its characters and suspense)

 

Those last 5 minutes were wild but that's about it.
