Just watched the first episode. I usually make it at least halfway through the season before I give up but I think I'm out already.
Just watching it and I'm really liking this one. I think it's really interesting, because I really can't figure out the intentions of some of these characters, and I like that it's kind of unclear whether the clowns are real or not, though I'd lean towards saying yes they are. Honestly maybe for the first time ever the show might have some important things to say? Here's hoping they don't ruin it - unfortunately I don't have a ton of faith in Ryan Murphy to deliver on a theme like this. I like the way it's very literally presenting the fears of a post Trump landscape and the consequences that come with that fear. Pedro getting shot was about as predictable as can be, but it'll be really interesting if they go the route of the police not really caring/thinking Sarah Paulson (I can't remember anyone's name except Ivy and Ozzy yet) was justified because he's a Mexican.
I've also found that review for this show are just basically worthless, because they take way too many liberties in assuming they understand the intentions of the writers, characters, and what is going on in the show, but this is a show that has very intentionally thrown us off the scent before, so it never really makes sense to critique it this early on.
I didn't think it was that predictable. I expected there to be blanks in the gun. Then she was going to shoot one of the clowns and think she killed one. She would have tried to show ivy or Pedro the body and then it would be gone. As much as I'm enjoying this season, it's really unnerving watching this cult (I guess is what it's going to be) completely ruin this family. I thought the scene where the neighbor was talking about the bee colonies being complex devoted to the same cause was very telling.
Welp, this season lasted two episodes before going off the rails. Definitely still enjoyable, was bummed when the episode was over haha.
Definitely getting more interesting for me. Really like how they're showing Evan Peters manipulating fears to gain trust and votes. Wasn't buying into the election leaking into the season, and it was definitely heavy handed in the beginning, but the parallels of Evan & Trumps use of fear is an interesting concept for me.
So I’m thinking of two possible scenarios. A) Meadow sacrificed herself for the cult. B) She’s not really dead and everything was just a show. Not real cops, blood, or anything. Also I don’t think Winter and Kai are related anymore. Just another member in the cult - but we got her arch first.
Finally watched this weeks episode. Could Ivy be in on it? I mean like how is she not freaking out too at this point? Wouldn't seeing that truck and dead birds alone be enough for her to realize oh hell no something's going on. And then someone microwaves their guinea pig but she still thinks Ally is crazy? Also now believe the therapist is in on it from that opening scene. I'm still really enjoying it right now!
The only thing is I'm sure some of the people we suspect will not actually have the motives we think. I'm actually not sold that Winter is in on it, I think she may actually be trying to help somehow.
Huh? You’re talking about the babysitter right? You’ve seen how she’s corrupted Oz over and over again. She obviously is trying to drive a wedge between between him and his moms. Besides, we see her meet with Kai at the very beginning.
But she also seems to genuinely care for Oz. She tells him how to protect himself from the clowns, for example. And I don't think we know enough about what it means when someone meets with Kai. I'm definitely saying it really looks like she's in on it, which is why I would not be surprised if there is a twist later on that either she's pretending to work with Kai to undermine him or something else. Don't forget in her meeting with Kai, she said he's what she's most afraid of. The show has never been one to just lead you right into what's going on in such an obvious way, so I definitely don't think everyone we suspect is necessarily in on it.
But the only reason she had to show him how to protect himself from the clowns is because she repeatedly subjected him to them and watching brutal, violent attacks/murders. I mean I would love for there to be a twist that she cares for him, I just haven’t seen anything to suggest that yet.
But we know virutally nothing about what's going on behind the scenes past Kai's little pinky game he plays with people. I just think people have been making a lot of assumptions this season and then applying it as fact. I mean how are we all so certain Kai is behind the clowns? Again, it certainly appears that way, but there's not really proof of the fact outside of circumstantial evidence. It would hardly be the first time AHS ripped the rug out from what we thought we knew.
I still think they're brother and sister. But it's clear Kai had her infiltrate Ally/Ivy's lives (probably with Ivy's help. I'm telling you she's in on it somehow, or she is the densest mofo ever) to drive that wedge/speed up some chaos.
