really looking forward to checking this out
Saw the trailer for this before Swiss Army Man, definitely looks interesting
Fish Tank is great, I love how she's using an untrained actress again. I have high hopes for this.
Among my most anticipated for the fall. Still haven't watched Arnold's last one, but Red Road and especially Fish Tank are fantastic.
Wuthering Heights is one of the more unfortunately forgotten adaptations of classic literature, especially when compared to the recent Jane Eyre and Anna Karenina.
Would like to see this
God that Springsteen cover is fucking awful, why didn't they use the Suicide version. So much better
That trailer is awful, btw
The trailer does make it look like the worst type of Sundance film. Arnold's career speaks a little louder, though.
A24, so you know its good.
Just about every reputable film critic I follow absolutely hated this, to the point of the name becoming a punchline. I'm still optimistic, I assume they would've hated KIDS if they had been around to review it as well
What did you like so much about Kids? I did not hate it but there are multiple Korine works I prefer.
Idk it was a film I watched a lot in my youth. I think it holds up, I enjoy the story
I really enjoyed this, acting was fantastic particularly Sasha and Shia, and a very effective use of music with everything from Rae Sremmurd to Mazzy Star
I saw it tonight and loved it, even though it's nearly three hours long I didn't want it to end. The cinematography was beautiful, and the soundtrack was perfect. Hearing Mazzy Star and Springsteen's Suicide cover pop up in between trap songs put such big smiles on my face.
I also thought it was quite good. Possibly my favorite of the three Arnold films I've seen. Has anyone come across any good, positive takes? Everything I've read has been negative so far.
The Atlantic and Buzzfeed are the only positive reviews I've seen so far. It's in fact, the only thing that brought me to Buzzfeed haha.
I find myself very put off by all the critics saying Arnold doesn't understand America/Americans. These criticisms come largely from critics that live in major cities and don't come across these people and their circumstances.
I'm not American, but being Canadian I feel like I have similar experiences. Each character in this film reminded me of at least one person I've come across in my life.
I may be off base, but this is a thought that has been circling in my head all week now and I felt I needed to get it out. It just bothers me how dismissive these criticism seem to be, especially coming from people who live a more privileged life.
my local theater is getting this in a couple weeks, very excited to see it. It will probably only plays once a day for seven days so I'm really hoping it times out
like badlands meets spring breakers
i loved it
I don't get why people complain about the length, I've watched much shorter movies that felt far longer
Totally loved it, more than I'd expected after some criticisms I'd read
I thought it was just alright.
I'm a half hour in and this is pretty awful. Hope it picks up
Keep us posted. I am still on the fence about even bothering.
