I used to listen to their self-titled at bonfires with a bunch of people. We'd all just sit back, chill, and listen to that album into the night. This is just exciting. I've been hoping for a long time that maybe we'd get some new material from them. It always seemed like a crazy notion but I had hope.
I'm excited for this, but I hope they don't try to write more sad songs about being a teenager. Would feel weird.
I'm sure it'd be pretty similar to the lyrics Mike writes these days in Owen. Instead of singing about teenage feelings, I think it makes most sense for them to sing about being adults/parents because that's what the majority of their fanbase are, I think.
If we get a new American football record this could be the greatest year for music of all time haha I want the lyrics to be different but hope there's trumpets and picked guitars with really cool time signatures
If it's an album they're teasing, I'm surprised it's following the Owen release so soon. I know he doesn't exactly tour or promote those in the traditional sense, but damn let it breathe a bit.
I mean, I can't talk like I know the guy, but just from how he seems from interviews and stuff I can see Mike caring about that
I kinda get the feeling from the video clips that there might be a strong theme of looking at someone/somewhere you used to be and ohhh i really hope they have some trumpets on this
I mean vocally it sounds like Owen but instrumentally it's kind of classic American football, love the drums in the slow open middle section. Also the guitar at the end is So classic. He's probably a better singer now anyway
This is the album thread. The band is American Football. Every release is called American Football. Everything is American Football.
