Def not gonnna listen to one minute of every song.

 

This isn't goodness all over is it?

 

The problem is that American Football came before Owen, and it was different enough. But now we've had Owen for so long that people will complain about it sounding Owen-y. It's the same musician, whaddaya expect?! haha

Either way, I'm not going to listen to the clips.

 

No clips for me, thanks. Whenever I find myself thinking "maybe this is the week we get a stream" I remember that it's not out for like another month.

 

I broke down and listened to them and I think it sounds incredible. So much beautiful twinkle

 

what. is. the. point.

if I were the artist I would be so frustrated if clips of a new album were releseased like that. clips are so pointless and not repesentative of the final product imo

 

Yea but I don't mind checking it out it gives me a small glimpse of the feel. I'm not judging it by them but from what I heard I like it a lot

 

It's so hard for me not to listen. But I'm with the majority here. I'm going to wait so I can hear the full product.

 

I caved and ended up listening last night. from what it sounds like, it's going to end up being everything i'd want it to be

 

I've waited like eight years for another record from this band, another month won't kill me.

 

Really hope Lamos plays the trumpet on this album. The trumpet fits so perfectly in The Summer Ends, For Sure, and Wurlitzer. I'm a huge jazz nerd too so I just love when bands throw horns in, when it's well executed obviously.

So amped for this, not long to go now.

Love their LP from '99. The introduction to 'Stay Home' is an amazing few minutes of music, and lyrically, the album's important to me because I was going through a breakup when I first really got into it.

Saw these guys live last year too, and it was so fucking awesome.

 

Stay Home is probably my favorite song on the album. It's so hard for me to pick a definite favorite, but like you said the intro is just unreal. Took my a while to realize the intro is in 7/8 and not altering time signatures. The musicianship is just unreal.

 

That vibe flows throughout the entire album. The sequencing of songs, and the way they fluctuate their time signatures throughout is just awesome. Glad there'll be more of that for LP 2, giving it that signature AF feel.

not emotionally ready to listen to this right now tbh.

 

And they haven't skipped a beat. Polyvinyl is notorious for leaking early which makes me feel terrible for the artists.

 

I'm about to do it...

 

the last 3 songs on this are just something else.... this is everything I wanted out of a modern AF album

Just finished the album. It's amazing. So so happy with how this turned out. Now I have to listen again haha.

 

So jealous ugh. I'm at work and probably won't be able to grab the album until tomorrow bc of stuff to do all day ha

 

This is the perfect record for the weather in Chicago this week.
