on one hand I am thinking "too much!! slow down!!" but on the other hand, his hit ratio is pretty high, so I'm not gonna jump to conclusions
and if they are great, why not? do you not remember when American Crime Story was first announced, there was a huge collective groan. And now it's a multi-award winning critical darling that most of us love
Just seems excessive though... that is, unless Netflix is hiring each show their own creative team. My thoughts are, what are the chances the material will feel inspired when the man's got 10+ shows happening at once? I also just tend to worry whenever any one person/brand has that much of a platform in any industry. Why not give other, lesser-known artists a space and a voice to be heard?
Yeah I remember when OJ was announced I was like "Really? Another OJ thing?" And that was a common sentiment at the time. Needless to say we were all proven comically wrong.
American Crime Story is actually the show he is most hands-off with, if I recall correctly. So these might be the same. He does hire diverse creatives to run these shows from what I understand.
Yeah like I do understand the trepidation over giving one single person access to so much industry money but from I have been able to gather Murphy has used that platform to give space to women and people from marginalized communities both in front of and behind the camera. I haven't loved everything he's been involved with but I do respect him for that. And I do love both seasons of American Crime Story.
Wish they went a little more linear with their storytelling. The frequent time jumps from the first episode of this season aren't pulled off well for me and I REALLY didn't like the reverse chronology of the Versace season.
Oh, the reverse storytelling in Versace actually really worked for me, which is why I have faith they'll pull this off. I agree that Impeachment's first episode time jumps confused me and truth is I was kinda bored the whole episode.
