This was dumb as hell and so much fun. Really appreciate Gyllenhaal recognizing that if you’re gonna play a reckless criminal in a Bay movie you might as well act like a sentient brick of cocaine the entire time.
Is this more or less fun than Pain & Gain? I genuinely enjoy that flick and would easily put it in my Bay top 3.
I would say this is a legit great action movie. Feels ripped from the 90s. Gyellenhaal is completely unhinged and Bay is in top form. The man is a master at his craft.
This is one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen and I absolutely loved it. Most fun at the movies in forever.
Okay. Based on Nick Wiger’s acclaim and the people in this thread, I’ll check it out tomorrow before it leaves the theater.
It's still nonsensical and doesn't have much to say, but Bay at least has his distinct style and a penchant for practical effects, which I can appreciate.
it 100% succeeds at what it is, being a (non superhero) popcorn movie people looking for substance or brains are barking up the wrong tree
Watching this now. I have a family party to go to in a bit so I’ll have to watch in two chunks but this already seems pretty wild.
My inner struggle with Bay is real. For years I’ve bounced back and forth between thinking whether he’s a complete dunce behind the camera or a misunderstood genius. This guys shots are just beautiful, honestly.
While I’m not sure if I “liked” this movie, it definitely was like one long rollercoaster and kept me entertained the whole time. So I guess you could say I enjoyed it? It wasn’t that much different than most bank robbery police chase movies, but I was definitely more entertained than most of those action movies. Gyllenhaal was fantastic in this though.
finally got around to this after missing in theaters. Pure fucking bayhem lol funny enough ad before on peacock was for the Nicole Kidman AMC so I felt right a home
Not gonna lie, enjoyed this. Limited story and just cutting right to the action is probably the ideal version of a Bay movie. The use of drone shots during the chase was partially nauseating, but mostly effective. And while I'm 100% sure Bay didn't intend to make the cops look like morons, it was immensely satisfying to watch them continually do extremely stupid shit like fly off a hill at the end of a dead end street when their target was already stopped in front of them for quite some time.
