I know it’s Michael Bay, but with that being said: - really didn’t like how this was shot and edited - very weird and also unfunny dialogue at times - the plot point where the dog ends up involved with the pursuit and the cops drop back because of it … wtf?
The whole Braveheart discussion was odd since the guy that looks like him has a beard and he doesn’t have one in Braveheart. And then Danny saying that Braveheart won a lot of Grammy’s was weird. Also the convo with the two main cops before he goes in the bank was odd but I was able to laugh at the absurdity.
Seeing this again today, IMAX this time. fuck it. this movie may be tanking at the box office but it's not gonna be my fault
Haven't seen the movie yet, but if you're curious, the pilot of the FPV drone for this movie was Alex Vanover. It's pretty crazy how technical you can be with these drones. Another guy that's been doing stuff for movies/commercials/etc. is Johnny FPV, who's also really good. I suspect we'll be seeing more of this kind of action drone footage in entertainment media.
Second watch. More sober this time. Still fucking ripped. Honestly was expecting to enjoy this some deal going on but really wasn't expecting it to get to where I am now, which is having difficulty imagining enjoying another movie this year more (Northman pending). Just so propulsive and energetic with a great trio of lead performances
Movie fucking rules. None of the criticism in this threads holds water. Perfect example of why we need to defund the police.
Oh yeah he definitely wasn’t trying to say that but it still absolutely shows that we need to defund them.
I feel like it has a good shot at staying in my top 10 for this year by years end. Pretty incredible film
this was fine I guess. had absolutely no business being over 90 minutes frankly Yahya was of course great. Gylenhaal was fine but he can do these bug-eyed crazy characters in his sleep by now and had to sell some atrocious lines. just cut the Toledo dude out entirely and keep Dillahunt all through, the other dude was so bland and his connection to Gylenhaal added absolutely nothing some actually inspired shots here and there but god awful editing, when Yahya and Gylenhaal were just standing still talking and the camera was whirling around them with a billion cuts per second I wanted to throw my drink at the screen
I wouldn’t mind giving this a shot. But I’m not curious enough to sit through 2 hours and 16 minutes of Bay.
It’s a fun theater experience. Some great wide shots of shit blowing up and such and nice loud speakers only help it.
Hmmmm…the other problem is I was hoping to see it in IMAX. But it bombing and bad Harry Potter nonsense but a stop to that quick.
The most valid criticisms of Bay movies usually come down to the casual sexism and homophobia, of which there’s basically none. Eiza Gonzalez is never filmed in an objectifying way either. I don’t want to hear shit about the story: we know Bay is bad at that but it’s kept to the absolute bare minimum here so he can mainline us with wild practical stunts and insane camera work, which he is indisputably one of the very best in the world at. Like one of the tweets posted in here earlier said it’s like getting mad at the choice of baton Mozart used to conduct.
that's a lot of stuff when my argument in its entirety is "it's mid". like that's all of it. certainly one of the movies of all time
This was so dumb but I can't wait for the FPV drone action movie renaissance. It bugged me in the end when she threw a live defib at Jake G, that would definitely lead to him firing a bullet
