his first EP Ecologies came out on Kuedo's label Knives and took experimental club/grime aspects and mixed it with ambient/soundtrack elements. It was fantastic and I'm guessing this LP will be just as good!
thx I really enjoyed the Senni EP btw - I can see where you are coming from with the whole OPN influence - just more cluby maybe?
Departed Glories is the first record of his I've listened to but I really like it. I haven't had a chance to really sit down and *listen* but every time I actively pay attention throughout its duration I love what I'm hearing. What's Substrata like? I actually don't find [most of] Departed Glories to be haunting though I've seen others describe his music that way.
How's the new Ambarchi? I've still only listened to Grapes from the Estate but god do I adore that one. Edit: Listened to the first track on Hubris. Not at all what I expected, having only heard Grapes, but I loved it. Edit #2: Dug that whole thing. Last track is wild.
I am so lost now that what.CD is shutdown. I downloaded so much of the stuff off this thread from there. Help?
yooo back from the dead (or ban-land lol) I'll return to reply to some of the previous messages later, but for now 1. I missed you guys (this thread is like my home here) 2. album of the year released (@0rb , this will also hit the B&R spot): It is magical. Interview: Sean McCann
that dedekind cut album is so good! also have been listening to this quite a bit... he played on eno's apollo. pedal and lap steal guitar so it's kind of country tinged ambient stuff.
Substarta is kind of classic in the ambient world. It is quite good and I like how it manages to sound very musical and quite alien at the same time. So, you'll get like guitar here and there, and these freezing drones too, but then some singing. Also, Twin Peak samples are always a bonus in my book. Really good and must for those interested in ambient (history) yeah, he's really versatile - glad you liked it, I think it's really cool and wow what a cast of all-stars / last year's Quixotism is kind of a minimal techno affair and it is amazing too get Quixotism for techno, get Triste for more Grapes stuff I do this all the time... honestly it's good because it gives me time too explore all the shit that is being released nowadays which is too much... time constraints help
THANK YOU I've been meaning to ask (that ban, man haha) for some country ambient as I've been obsessed with Apollo as of late
Im not great with this genre but i know some stuff. i was hoping to get some recs. i like ambient with quiet and beautiful instrumentation but i also like ambient with orchestral flourish, like strings humming over mountains and forests. Some of my favs include Helios, SotL, Caretaker, Eluvium, Christina Vantzou, marsen jules, etc. been really into susumu yokota lately too
welcome aboard try the first two A Winged Victory for the Sullen LPs - it's one of the dudes from SotL - beautiful stuff also all other recs on this thread are gold - explore
