Here are some favourites of mine, that, as far as I know, have not been posted yet. John Atkinson & Tayla Cooper - Plains Dino Spiluttini - Heaven Ana Roxanne - ~~~
I've only begun to scratch the surface of ambient music so I'm subbing to this thread for some recs. What's a good place to start with Hammock, or are they more post rock?
Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow is a great ambient album. Same with their last three but they’re more droney. Their first few definitely have post rock vibes too. Happy new year, ambient thread. Im hammered
this is amazing and beautiful. first release by balam acab since he got clean and saved his own life so it has a really special feel to it. check it out.
Everyone likes to rip on Pitchfork (and they certainly deserve it a lot of the time), but I never would've discovered a band like A Winged Victory for the Sullen without them. So question: I'm very new to ambient music. It seems like this would be great stuff to listen to while hiking, any other good bands that would fit that niche?
Giving you a lot to work with here. Check the Saariselka album from this year. Chuck Johnson’s Balsams, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma’s On the Echoing Green, Mountains’ Choral, and Gigi Masin’s Wind all probably fit that bill. If you like AWVFTS then you’d probably also dig Kyle Bobby Dunn’s newest record (one of the best), bvdub’s discography, Slow Meadow, Billow Observatory... I’ve got a bunch more but that’s probably more than enough haha.
Check out artist like Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Jóhann Jóhannsson - sooo many great pieces of music. All three have extensive catalogs on Spotify
Nice! Prepare to be blown away. On their social media they pointed out their bringing a whole new live setup this time, with extra string players, lighting, etc. Should be an amazing evening
You want some really good ambient? Out today and its gorgeous. Ulla - Tumbling Towards A Wall - Boomkat
Can't believe I just discovered this. Incredible stuff, wife of the artist Helios (and Goldmund). For fans of Grouper and Julianna Barwick.
