btw, the first two tracks are some of the most moving and powerful music pieces/songs I have ever heard - amazing how such subdued music can be so profoundly affecting they're like taking refuge in a womb
i havent listened to a lot of ambient this year - mostly In Summer - but with the weather changing I'm drifting back towards stuff like Mark McGwire etc. What are the best albums from this yeaR?
haven't heard that much from this year but... these will fuck you up some are on the drone side of things, others on the classical side, all are amazing
yeah i remember it leaked like the day or week it was announced, thats why it feels like so long ago i guess
Bing & Ruth sign to 4AD with new album, No Home Of The Mind YES Song is beautiful, easily a most anticipated of 2017
oh yeah the ambient-pop master returned with a new set of tunes he also just released Stanza III for a less song based approach and more DROOOOONE another worthwhile 2016 release:
no, sorry bro - I promise you my listening habits are not that interesting anyways... also, a lot of my listening at home is on vinyl records... well, at least it was before I moved here... CONTENT: added that Huerco S album to a post above... it looks like I actually have listened to quite a few 2016 ambient albums LOL
I love old releases by Huerco S and keep forgetting to grab that one even though I've heard nothing but stellar things, def grabbing it
picked this up on a whim this past weekend while I was in Asheville. record store guy recommended it when I asked about local artists. just now getting around to spinning it and it's pretty good.
I was previously only familiar with Substrata and this diferent - kind of menacing what do you think? also, new Ambarchi is out - Jim O’Rourke, Crys Cole, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Mark Fell, and Ricardo Villalobos all join him on this one O__O I'm pressing play rn
Just wanted to pop in and say *THANK YOU* for all the recommendations in here. I've added pretty much everything mentioned. So far I've really, really loved Hyper Light Drifter and Sakura. I'm planning on listening to the Ambarchi record soon, since it's gotten some raves in here.
Lorenzo Senni - Persona (Warp, 2016) not ambient but a synth record with no drums probably fits better in here than anywhere else. it is also one of the best things I've heard all year. If you like OPN at all, get on this
