Yeah, I may not post much in here, but that’s because you all are one of my main sources for this stuff, and I don’t feel like I have much to contribute. I check out a majority of what’s posted in here though and love a lot of it! I’ve been listening to that Eli Keszler and H. Takahasi album a lot, for instance.

I have been working through some of the artists I don’t know from the Big Ears Festival line-up and have been really enjoying this Clarice Jensen album, which probably fits in here. Really awesome cello drones. Johann Johansson worked on the first track.

    Pumped to check that out!

I’d also just love to know what are some of everyone’s recent favorites vs. all-time favorite ambient albums. Doesnt matter if they aren’t rare- just want to get a sense of peoples’ tastes.

sadly I just can’t get into ambient techno or any rhythm-centric ambient

I only reallllly got into ambient techno stuff this year. I've always enjoyed it to a certain extent, but I finally devoted some time to the genre and now I'm very interested in how percussive elements can deliver layers of atmosphere and texture, while still maintaining ambient's soft-spoken quality- if that makes sense.

I feel like the new Leon Vynehall is very rhythm-centric, though not nearly as much as his older shit which is literally titled Designed to Dance lol (that album is truly incredible too).

I think my very first ambient techno album was Helios' earliest record, Unomia. There is a lot of organic instrumentation as well, and that combination is what initially intrigued me. It's probably their darkest album, but I love it.

Happy I'm the guy who posts extremely random and unknown old Japanese ambient albums here. I can only find these hidden gems on Youtube. Listen to these beauties before they're ever removed, god-forbidding.

The reason you like the new Laurel Halo is because Eli Kinzler plays on it.

Got a lot to check out on this rainy friday it seems!

The Brian Mcbride records are too good, was considering them for my list as well. Also wasn’t sure which Jefre Cantu Ledesma was my favorite bc theyre all pretty incredible but if i were to add one to my list itd probably be On the Echoing Green. I love optimistic ambient.

Not strictly ambient but with ambient tendencies, here is a great neo-jazz album that came out today

I think that will be excellent. I want to go to an ambient show--they just never happen where I live, or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

Also for fans of The Caretaker, this album came out today too and it's really great so far:

Not strictly ambient but this album is out today. Dreamy ambient-pop reminiscent of a sparse Julia Holter. Full thing on streaming.
