Same. Will def be more aware of actually responding tho instead of just playing something and closing out the chorus fm tab
Some post-classical inspired ambient for you all. Discovered this today and it put me in a good mood.
I’ve been on a big ambient / post rock kick. I know there is probably another thread for things leaning towards the latter, but yo people hmu with the best releases so far this year
I’d say... Dedekind Cut Mary Lattimore Gas Valotihkuu I need to revisit the Giffoni and Hassell records DJ Healer is #1 if you count him
There's still a lot of time left and probably a ton of 2018 ambient i've yet to explore, but these left an impression on me so far: Jon Hassell - Listening to Pictures GAS - Rausch Anenon - Tongue Carlos Giffoni - VAIN Rafael Anton Irisarri - Midnight Colors Earth House Hold - Never Forget Us Araceae - Lunae Semita bvdub - A Different Definition of Love The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time (Stage Four) Kemialliset Ystävät - SIIPI EMPII uon - s/t (OUEST098) DJ Healer - Nothing 2 Loose Mary Lattimore - Hundreds of Days
I just released a new album that has some ambient/modern classical vibes. I'd love it if you guys gave it a listen.
Not a bad list by any means, but seems they stuck to the most well-known releases in the genre. I liked that Pendant record but it doesn’t come anywhere close to the last Huerco S. album (which is a masterpiece). I also liked the new Many Rooms album, seems right up a Grouper fan’s alley, though I would actually say it’s far less reliant on atmosphere and actual ambience. The new Sigur Ros isn’t really new, per-se, and also not all that interesting imo.
Damn. Check out Grouper’s Dragging a Dead Deer Up A Hill asap. Her newest stuff is good too, but that album is the best to start with.
Grouper is very accessible and has turned into one of my favorite artists over the last year or so. Listen to all of "Ruins" and "Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill" ASAP and let me know what you think. Liz is a master at what she does. Here are some of my favs
@Kennedy if you'd like to hear one of my favorite pieces ever.. this is a flat out gorgeous song. sounds like a dream
