One of my favs in the vapor wave genre is Catsystem Corp. Sounds like I’m in a Tokyo mall in 1988

My top 20 ambient aoty’s in no order. I had to cut it down a lot which was tough as there were a ton more from this year that I loved, and certainly more to check out.

Kyle Bobby Dunn - Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes

    merope - Vėjula

Also as I’m playing catch up I’m sure I’ll have to make another list, if only just for myself to refer to later lol

I missed listening to this one and it’s fun so far. A dubby ambient-post-punk sort of thing.

  19. Here's a handful I've really enjoyed this year in alphabetical order (some overlap with @OotyPa as is expected lol)

Adam Wiltzie - Eleven Fugues for Sodium Pentothal
Arushi Jain - Delight (borderline but I'm counting it)
claire rousay - The Bloody Lady (sentiment is also very good, one might say top 10 worthy, but I'd say that's left the ambient realm maybe? if not it's on this list too)
    kayaks collective - Dawn Choruses
Lia Kohl - Normal Sounds (borderline but again I'm counting it)
    Mark Templeton - Inner Light
Sachi Kobayashi - Clouds in the Sky
Sacred Canopy - We Do In All Honesty Hate This World
Sarah Davachi - The Head As Form’d In The Crier’s Choir
    Whitney Johnson/Matchess - Hav & Stena

BT's landmark ambient album This Binary Universe is finally on streaming! I remember buying the CD back in the day, which came with a separate DVD containing music videos for all the songs. 1.618 is by far my fav. Listen on studio headphones if you can

  23. I really love the Rich Ruth album, Water Still Flows, so it’s cool to see it make David James’s list.
