new Luke Scheider ep. his debut was one of my top of 2020. this one is good too, a bit more easygoing new Warmth & Human is Alive collab is very enjoyable too.
real good, vibey stuff with a light punch to it. was rec'd on spotify and was pleasantly surprised. probably also fits in the underground dance music thread. riyl early Sun Glitters, Southern Shores, Baths, Yagya
I've really taken a liking to Warmth's albums in the last couple of months; they're really good at calming my brain down and making me a bit more zen, especially when I'm on my daily commute to/from work. "The Longing (Part 1 and 2)" and "Northbound" are fantastic.
For anyone that didn't see, new Mary Lattimore incoming and it's gonna be good (I don't have any inside info but come on)
Received the new Helios album in the mail. Spinning it now after successfully avoiding the singles. It's great, very reminiscent of Eingya and Caesura. I did love the more fully ambient releases of Veriditas and Domicile but this is just as good.
Damn, what a loss. RIP to an actual legend. The entire Stars of the Lid discography are among my favorites of the genre and, all my life, have been incredibly important to my personal wellbeing.

And so the littlest things are of extreme importance. To think that I could be one of those little things is great.” He certainly was and always will be.
Still throwing on SotL a bunch since the news. They really hold a special place in my heart. Some other recent things that are worth a listen... riyl Grouper, North Americans, Gaussian Curve riyl Ulla, Cool Maritime, Chuck Johnson riyl good piano-based stuff
more on the jazz side of things but super excited for new lemon quartet. g.s. schray and members of aqueduct ensemble. may appeal to fans of gigi masin.
I always try to give these a read every month. Usually some great stuff mentioned. Haven't listened to everything yet but I enjoy the Andra Ljos, Felbm, and (obviously) Helios albums so far. The Best Ambient on Bandcamp: August 2023
Which Helios album(s) should I listen to? I’ve never listened to them before, but I’ve been on a big Hammock kick lately and I’m interested in diving deeper into this genre, especially because I love post rock music a ton.
Hammock and Helios definitely have crossover appeal, both great. I think a good place to start is Eingya which is a classic. Eingya, Caesura, and Unleft are sort of variations of the same sound, but different moods (the cover art of their albums are great indicators of the atmosphere for each). Unomia, the debut, is very Boards of Canada. The others sort of get more ambient and playful with different vibes. Yume is a beautiful record. I also really love Domicile, which is fully ambient but utterly serene. The new record feels like a return to the early sound. If you like Helios, you might want to also check out the extended Kenniff universe lol. Goldmund is Keith's piano-based project. Really intimate, beautiful stuff. His wife Hollie Kenniff also has a few excellent ambient albums out. And they also have a dreampop project together called Mint Julep, which is great.
