Very cool read. I am not sure I'm ready to listen to this album in a few hours.

like many here, I never really gotten into or showed enough love to Yellowcard in my earlier years, with the exception of hearing songs like Only One, Lights and Sounds and Rough Landing Holly.

It was only back then when the site was hyping up the possible reunion of the band back in late 2010, which I then began to look up their past discography, and never looked back ever since.

I encourage fans to see them on their farewell tour and give them the send off they truly deserve. I'm from Singapore so I've only seen them live the two times they came here, but I can assure you that it is always one hell of a good time.

I have so many milestones with this band, it's been interesting to think back on those in light of their last album coming out. I remember getting "Ocean Avenue" at Target when it came out - it was shortly after I got my first job so I actually had disposable income. I remember getting my drivers license soon thereafter, and driving around my town blasting it. I was in a long distance relationship at the time, so I have a ton of memories driving for hours and listening to OA, the Underdog EP, and OFTK, among all the other great albums that came out in our "scene" between 2003-2005. I have memories and events tied in with almost all their other albums as well, with the exception of Lift A Sail, but those early moments will always stand out to me, and listening to their first works will always bring me back to those days.

Great piece, Craig. Thanks for sharing your story, and getting me thinking about mine, hah.

And that's why you always leave a note.

    I love doing this!

    1. Paper Walls ("Keeper" is probably my favorite YC song ever)
    2. Ocean Ave
    3. Southern Air
    4. WYTTSY
    5. One For the Kids
    6. Lights and Sounds
    7. Lift A Sail

Spinning the new one now so too early to rank that one. Gonna be a bittersweet one I'm sure!

As everybody else has said... awesome story Craig. Love reading how Yellowcard impacted other people. There will not be another band like them.

    Nice list!

I just finished listening to Craig and Jason's Encore episode of the album breakdown. I encourage you to listen to their review each song, followed by the track they are reviewing. Thats how I did it and it helped me process a lot of my feelings and emotions of the songs.

Perfect write up. I feel largely the same about what you said. There aren't a lot of bands for me where I can really pinpoint exactly where I was in life based on songs from each album. I'm unfortunately going to be out of town for their last stop in Dallas next week, and just this morning, sent them a thank you on twitter. They deserve it.

I rarely post on these forums, but after reading this article I had to log in and thank Craig for this piece. Craig, this was an absolute joy to read. Legitimately got chills reading through portions as I thought back to my life growing up with Yellowcard as a constant companion. I don't think anyone is going realize how much the music scene is going to miss these guys until Summer 2018 rolls around and we don't have new Yellowcard music to rock out to.

    Thank you!

Yeah, definitely agree. I think they'll be one of those bands that I really start to miss in a few years when it would have been time for a new record. Hopefully we'll get a solo something from Ryan.

This album is very good. The closing two tracks are just terrific. Honestly, from One for the Kids to Yellowcard....only albums I wasn't a big fan of are Lights and Sounds and Lift a Sail.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Since this review was written, I've since revisited Yellowcard in a huge way...listening to Only One as I type this, which has become a symbol of Love for my wife, had her listen to it and it brought a tear to her eye due to what we've been through the last couple years (and she's a strictly Radio Country fan). Also shared Yellowcard's discography with my 3 boys, who each picked a separate album as their favorite, and have been listening to it at night for the last couple weeks. Thanks again for the write up Craig...much appreciated.
